Has anyone here purchased an extended warranty for their Triumph? If so do you have any advice on who has a good reputation and who to stay away from?

My 2005 America has a month or two of warranty left, the bike has had so many mechanical problems I'm scared to go without a warranty.

Thanks,
John M.

Extended warranties, in general, are B.S.

John, what where all the mechanical problems you've had?
I also have a 05 America and my only problem in almost 8000 miles was a bad CDI that just got replaced on warranty.

Well...

1. Severely corroded fuse block causing electrical problems
2. Leaking petcock
3. Leaking rubber gasket near oil site glass
4. Warped front brake disk
5. Loose steering head (forward and back wobble in fork)
6. Squishy brakes - needed brake system bleeding
7. Stuck fuel float - Twice, once filling the entire crankcase with gasoline the second time filling just the airbox. The bike was started and ran for a minute or so with a bunch of gas in the cylinder (both times). I'm afraid the cylinders may be scored because of the "gas flush" that occurs when the cylinder is flooded. The normal oil coating on the cylinder walls is washed away which can cause huge problems later on.

Anyway, I'm sure there are a few more things I can't remember just off the top of my head. I'm primarily interested in the warranty to protect myself from piston/cylinder damage that could have happened by the engine being severely flooded.

Jm

Get it in before the warrenty runs out. If the problems are there now they'd have to sort them out. They won't stop the work the day it does run out, surely.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

John, It was a very valid question.

My only limited advice to you would be to look at the cost and coverage items on the warranty. Short of major motor work, would the extended warranty have covered the above listed items? Meaning how comprehensive are they and do they carry a deductible.

If its a few hundred bucks I would certainly consider it. My 05 America runs out in December and I will look into them too. The odds of you vaporizing the motor are remote, or losing a transmission, but can you afford it if it happens?

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
