Very bad day. Went to go for a ride with a buddy from work and I laid it down before I got out of the driveway. Broke the brake lever. I know how to remedy that, but when he gave me a hand lifting her up he put his gloved mitt on the exhaust at the manifold. There is a black caked/crispy residue there now four fingers across. I tried to get it off with WD-40 and a soft rag but no dice. Anyone know any products or methods to get this kind of thing off without ruining the finish on the pipes? I sure made a dumba$$ move, shows ya how one thing leads to another sometimes....
Thanks.

Never Dull will get just about anything off. I think I read here that wd-40 will discolor the pipes so maybe shouldn't start it until it is cleaned off. good luck

There was a thread about that recently. It was plastic removal. Quite a few ideas. I have never had to remove anything like that so I can't tell you best method but find that thread and you will find plenty of ideas.

Mike,

Thanks, I'll try some never-dull right off and make sure the WD is gone before I start. Thank You again for the input.

isn't elboy grease the tip you give the guy who carries your bags at a hotel?

Ok, my turn to blather.
The wife & I were on the 22nd floor of the St. Louis downtown Mariott when a (false) fire alarm went off.
Grabbed the luggage (2 pcs ea) & headed for elevator.
Flashing light: "Emergency - use stairs".
So there we went, scrambling down 22 floors (44 flights) of stairs with all this luggage & thinking we were in the towering inferno.
When we got to the lobby, everything was normal and the guy with the feather in his hat came up and wanted to "take our bags".
Don't remember just what I said, but he didn't take 'em.
