i need to replace my chain as well as my sprocets on my 02 America. The dealership wants 190.00 for the chain, and around 30.00-50.00 for each sprocket. Bellacorse and Newspeedmaster.com offer at much reduced rate at 119.00 for the chain and around 20.oo for sprocets.Whats the deal?

If you want the Triumph parts you can buy a Triumph chain/sprocket kit for $197.10 (Triumphstore price) or so. You get the exact factory chain and both sprockets.

the problem with the triumph chain is that it is linkless, in that there is no master link. You have to remove your swingarm to install it, which really isn't that bad, but you may not want to mess with it.

Look in the Tech vault about chains. I have known this for a long time but don't waste money on an O ring chain and with todays metals I wouldn't waste money on an X ring either. If you lube your chain a plain chain will last the life of your sprockets and you want new sprockets with new chain in any case. I hear Brents sprockets are quality and priced good so in my view get a regular chain with master link (no bike disassembly) and sprockets from Brent or Bella Course I would imagine those are OK too.

Yeah Dog, but those x ring chains can handle the massive, I mean massive amounts of torque our bikes put on them.

LOL @ massive. If you read that page in the tech vault the X and O ring chains aren't as strong in most cases.

i ended up going with a bellacorse chain and front sprocket, mainly because the Newspeedmaster site said they were closed until next week. no big deal, as i'm sure i will do plenty of buisness with them in the future.
Now where can i find a rear sprocket? Are they pretty "one size fits most" or are they very specific to the bike.

Best to get one made for the bike. Otherwise, you may end up having to make spacers to get the right offset to align the chain properly.
