Changed the tires on my 06 America Thurs for the ride to Laughlin. Metzler ME880's. Much to my dismay the front rim has significant rust inside it. Has anybody else found this. It was bad enough I was worried about it abrading my new tube. Due to time limits in getting ready for the ride I used a wire wheel to smooth down the worst of it. Possible warranty issue? As soon as I get time to figure out how to reduce my image sizes I'll post pics.

06 America, Custom built seat, K N pods, 155 mains, 45 pilots, Sceptres.

an old trick I used to use with a wheel like that was after you clean it up hit it with some rust inhibative primer and wrap it with electrical tape where the tire doesn't seat. That will protect the tube.

Haven't changed Wendys yet but I did see a couple very small spots of rust starting on the out side of her rims on her 04 America! The chrome on those wheels sucks. We both had some rust on the "push rod" tube in front of the jugs too.

Dog - That's just a breather tube, and mine's rusty too.

I know it's a breather tube just didn't know how else to easily describe it.

I've had rust in both my front rims - apparently it's common on these bikes with spokesd wheels. Last time I had a front tyre replaced the fitter looked at the rust and said "yep, it's an italian rim".

Maybe it never rains in Italy.
