Ive just had the pleasure of trying out the new 07 america & I must say its an impressive piece of kit. I own an 06 tiger which I ride all year & is a great bike but fancy something different as well as keeping tigger for touring & when I want to play with the quick boys. Ive tried numerous harleys which are really great but the price,s are slightly out of my range to be able to keep tigger as well. So I had a look around & spoke with my uncle who has an 06 speedy (which Ive rode & like) & decided to take a run on the america I must say the seating & riding position is perfect (whats the pillion position like) apart from you turn into a sail over 80mph so would need a screen if I was doing any distance. so Ive a few more questions that I hope u may help me with? whats the tank range? do the tor,s (cans) make a real difference? is there a pillion backrest available? The blue & cream will be my choice of colour If & when I buy the bike this will be my second triumph Im impressed with the build quality of tigger but are the cruisers built to the same standard.
Thanks Malc

Depening on how (and what kind) of riding I am doing, I average between 140 and 160 miles (aproximately) before switching to reserve.

Yes. And there is also a different touring seat available for more passenger comfort.

The '07 has a newly redesigned pillion seat that is GREAT for passenger comfort. The old lady and I went out for a while today and she reminded me several times how much more comfortable my '07 is than any other bike she's ridden on!

I ran out completely yesterday morning.Coasted into the station across from work.Made it a whole 152 miles. When I feel up I leave it on the kick stand.I don't stand the bike upright. The pump said 4.1 gallons(US).Book I think says it should hold 4.5 gallons. I don't get the best mileage I know but I'am doing 80 to 85mph most the time to work and home. Some times a little faster. The mileage really drops if I take her over 100mph which is not that often.

Malc, GREAT choice of colours! I have the blue and white and it really pops in the sun. I have had many comments on the colours. As for milage I am getting around 160 to the tank full and I DO stand my bike up to fill full.
As for the seat, I haven't had a rear rider as of yet and can't tell youfor sure. You definitely can get a back rest, even on the site here. The "T" backrest is pricey when you get it new.
I love the cast wheels, much easier to clean and do NOT rust as readily (at all). Plus the tubless tire and Metzlers are a great improvement over the Bridgestones.
Buy it, you'll like it! I love mine and the extra CC's are an added bonus.

I'm normally right at 120-125 when it starts to sputter.

I get 120-135 around town and 140-155 on the highway before hitting reserve. Keep in mind not everyone fills their tank up to the same amount. A half gallon difference could mean 20 miles difference. I usually get 37-42 mpg.

when I first got the bike I was getting about 38-43 mpg, and over the last 3 months i've been getting 45-50 mpg believe it or not. I fill up the tank to the same level every time and calculate the mpg every time. I run it moderately hard and use it both in town and out on the hwy.
Black '06 Speedmaster, BUB of course.
