Filled up with gas and set off for a ride. Within 10miles my bike starting playing up. I kept losing power, and had no acceleration.
I pulled over, bike idling fine, and revved up ok. Off I went, now slightly better, but after about 30miles, again, but worse. Running real rich and dark smoke from the exhaust. This time I couldn't even rev it up!Seemed to be little to no power!
Pulled into a gas station. Put some carb/fuel injection cleaner and filled her back up with gas.
Ran perfect! 77 miles later still no issues.
So, does this sound like I had some bad gas or water in the tank?

Thanks!
Mole

Yep. But that's not the way it sounds when I have bad gas...

Sounds more like it was water rather than bad gas.

Thanks guys! Hopefully the problem will not return, and yup, I am not going back to that gas station again!

Great day for a ride aroun here, eh? I'm pretty red after spending all day on the road. I'd be willing to bet that over half the residents of the greater Denver area are a little sunburnt today with the sun being out, after suffering through this winter.

To make things worse, I'm on antibiotics that make me more sensitive to the sun. The pharmicist said "wear sunscreen!" Of course I haven't been.

By the time we stopped the damage was done. we rode Sunday about 300 miles with no sunscreen and about 150 give or take Monday before we bought some.

Sunscreen's useless to me. When I burn it just hurts for half a day and then all peels off. The joys of being Irish!

We had a great day today. Put almost 300 miles on the bikes. Got lots of sun, too. The gas here in sunny CA is good, but extremely expensive. $3.59 a gallon for premium. Thank God the bikes only take 4 gallons.

I had to remove the fuel bung or petcock on my Speedmaster once already and clean all the cr#$%^ out of the main and reserve side.Since I also installed a fuel filter in line.Yes it does take awhile to fill up the filter if you let it run way out before switching onto reserve.Positive side to this is you can also take the valve apart and grease the seal or o-ring up so the lever operates easier.

I had a similar problem a couple years ago. I removed the bowls and there were bubbles in the fuel, looked almost oilly, not so much like water. Added K100g(spelling may be off) within 5 minutes ran perfectly. I steered clear of that station as much as possible, unfortunately a buddy uses their credit card so we have to stop there occasionally.

I paid that for 89 octane yesterday near Chehalis. Premium was $3.79.

If you don't already use it, check out this site:

http://www.gasbuddy.com/

They do a pretty good job of being accurate and you can save a few bucks on a ride if you check it out ahead of time.
