If you're not in any rush, I'll try and upload some sound/film bites although it'll be done on my still camera (with film feature) so won't be great. Hopefully, it'll give you an idea. I'll do that this week sometime.
Another thing I will say about the pipes, when starting the bike, it feels good through your feet/the ground, as though starting something of substance. Hard to explain-perhaps others can expand.

Generally, people start at the open (rearmost) end; just get a hole-cutter and start drillin'!!! Do a search for 'bafflectomy'. Not sure about the cat.
