My apologies if this has been discussed before but... every new car I have bought has had the first dealer service free. My new America , however , is going to be charged for the 1000 km service. Is this common practice or is Triumph Australia having a lend of me?

My first service was free - except for things like oil. But that was Triumph UK... I'd question it. Give the Aussie Triumph Office a quick call... just don't mention your name - they'll have you down as a trouble maker...

03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

States side, the first service is the first chance alot of dealers get to see how deep your pockets are

I think the first service is mainly changing out the run-in oil to synthetic blend. Plus checking fasteners, chain, tires, controls etc. Many folks here have done that themselves, without affecting the "warranty". You might check with your dealer?? It'd save you the labor charges.

I would say do er yourself unless your dealer is willing to give you a deal.
My local ripoff shop (stealership) wanted well over 300 Merican dollars to do the initial 500 mile checkup.

My first one back in 04 cost about $160, and the second one was well over $200. I have done my own since.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll have to wear this one and do my own servicing in future. Good business practice suggests it's best to not ****** off your customers.
