I am having the AI ripped out and a set of silencers put on my America. I have not had it inspected in NJ yet and dont know if that will affect passing inspection. Does anyone have any insight?
Also... What's up with the 4 in/sq reflectors on the lids?

I think we're supposed to have a few square inches of red or silver reflective 3M tape on our helmets. It's usually easy to hide in the pattern of a helmet, and probably makes you more visible. Ride safe.

MD, NJ, NM, NY, ND, SC, & VT all have helmet reflector laws. Are these laws heavily enforced? I would kinda doubt it, unless maybe the rider starts playing roadside attorney or motor mouth. VT (and it's likely many other states) requires DOT approved lids. Leaving a DOT designation on a helmet un-obscured could be a good method to avoid a pinch. Reflective tape is also available in black, that reflects white. http://www.identi-tape.com/eng-sr1.html

Retroreflective American Flags are easy to find as well. http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_14&products_id=3936The 2.9 by 1.5 inch flag exceeds 4 sq in. Among the multitude of challenges life offers, I think I'd put this fairly trivial one on to the "Do Not Whine" list.

Goes to show how stupid politicians are, they actually think that people look. Well, that S Dakota guy, Janko or whatever knows that drivers, including himself, don't look where they are going, but he got kicked out of the politicing business.

I have no AI, pipes and so on and had no issues what so ever with NJ inspection. I did stick some temporary reflective things on my hat as I was aware they were required, and then took them off after the inspection. You can get them anywhere - bike shops, DIY.

Thanks for the responses.... I think I will be alright now.
Thanks again.
One more thing. Did anyone have to report after putting on the Triumph made silencers(long chrome). The dealer says I have to.

I have a "halo band" which is a stretchy rubber reflective thing that goes around the bottom of a full face helmet. Completely removable, no adheasive at all. Works great! I like it for night time rain riding.
