Just finished removing AI from my 2007 America,so easy & so Satisfying. This might not sound like a big deal, but after years of owning jap sports bikes & never having the confidence to lay a spanner on them I enjoyed this.Last bike was a 1999 Hayabusa & besides fitting an after market pipe I never felt the need for further mods.(had more grunt than I could ever use)BUT this bike just cries out to be set free.
D&D pipes should be here Thursday & I've pulled the stock pipes off & put them back on again so I'm ready
After reading all the info on this & Dinqua's site I'm about to order a Carbtune to balance carbs & as soon as She Who Must Be Obeyed gives the OK I'll order the Freak.
This sh*t is very addictive

Hey Tom. Good to hear you making changes. Im a bit nervous at making changes on mine since its a 2007 model Speedy. I would like to hear how you get on with the new pipes since that is one of the first mods I want to do. Let us all know how you go. Where abouts in NSW are ya. Im out Penrith way.

Good feeling isn't it? AI was my first too. I think it's a great mod because it is SO easy, but it makes you take the tank off which is required for SO manyo ther mods. Just giving you the confidence to remove the tank any old time goes a LONG way to undertaking future mods.

Good on you Pard! These are nice machines to work on. I removed my AI, removed the back two baffles out of my mufflers, adjusted the valves about a month ago. I also synced my carbs recently. I attached my carbtune to a board and added ball valves between the carbtune and the hose going to the carbs. This allows me to shut off the vacuum from the carbs and blip the throttle without sucking mercury into the intakes. I have not found a good flex screwdriver yet to make adjustments easier.

Another fanatic Triumph wrencher is born! Once you start you can't stop. That feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction never goes away and even better is when someone looks at something you did and asks about it and you tell them you did it. Be careful though.. don't knock the guy over when your chest swells with pride!

G'day Derek na don't be nervous it's a piece off p!ss this mechanical lark
I think modifying my bike is my new religion
I'm from Hat Head on the mid north coast
I'm going to give my stock standard 2007 America a run on a dyno tomorrow to get a base figure then fit D&Ds, re-jet give it another run & then the Freak & hopefully it will go as well as I think it will sound
Only problem is i have to go down to the big smoke on Friday to look after my elderly parents for a month or so- mods come to a stand still.I'll certainly post how it all goes once I get to do it

Ahhhhh...and your point is?
Just be glad that it's not a hundred-dollar bike (H-D)
or something like my Yamaha FJR.... the farkles on that get really expensive, mainly electrical, electronic or custom made by foks on that forum... and not easy to take off like H-D stuff which is mostly chrome....
But, to thik of it.... lots of really neat stuff here made by folks on this forum....
and the Phreak is awesome....I only needed a small BFH!
(Just kidding!)

My first change was the AI. I was a little worried at get go, I hadn't wrenched on anything this new before.
So I said a little prayer to the mechanical gods and it went easy. Such a quick little job was great bonding between me and the bike. And more importantly it worked right off.
