Was trying to figure the trail on my SM if I kicked the front end out using trial and error and a couple of available sources to determine this figure. According to those sites the 6.05" trail/33.3 deg. rake built into our bikes is in the dangerous area. "They" say anything over 6" is excessive, 4" being nominal. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hey Boogieman,
Who are they???
I went to the spec page on Triumph site and also to my Service Manual and they say the same thing. 33.3 degrees of rake and 153mm trail.
Maybe for a dirt bike this would be dangerous but I don't know about a cruiser. It seems to feel pretty good to me.
Not in the sport bike category for steering quickness but pretty solid for the type of riding I do.

My point exactly. How can our bikes be so good, yet find out conflicting info? I want to take one out to about 38-40 deg. but have become confused by the info I've found.

"THEY" are the so called experts on the subject I found on the net search under "motorcycle rake and trail". Several sites with sources to determine this critical diminsion.
