Paula- I read Williams' trilogy "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn" back when it first came out- very cool. Jordan's "Wheel of Time" has finally ground to a halt for me, I gave up after 15 years of hoping to get to the end of a 3 year chronicle.
Try S.M. Stirling's "Island on the Sea of Time"- cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Just getting started on "In Contempt" by Christopher Darden.
Came highly recommended.

Recently, Orson Scott Card's "Enders Game" and "Speaker For The Dead". Still need to read "Xenocide" and "Children of the Mind" to finish up this excellent series.

Others I recommend: Anything by Martin Cruz Smith (Gorky Park, Rose).

"The Bonfire of the Vanities" by Tom Wolfe (forget the movie, the book is great).

I read pretty voraciously, and like Paula, tend to go on "author binges". Stephen King did kind of burn me out, but I'll make myself finish the "Gunslinger" series.

Paula,

Yep, read Tad Williams' Otherland series. Thoroughly enjoyable. Never thought I would get into the fantasy novels but have found they are a great escape from the daily grind.

Always dug scifi novels, if they are done by a good author. I just finished re-reading Asimov's Foundation series. Hadn't read that since high school. Still a great read and classic set of rather short'ish novels. Led into the I Robot series I believe. Thinking about re-reading some of the Heinlein novels.

Pat, Ann Coulter is my hero too!

Brian, I think the last WOT novel is due to come out soon. Now you will be able to go back and read the series start to finish in short order. Should take ya' at least a day or two.

Well sorry to sound boring, but my last three books were

The Glorious Game, Arsene Wenger, Arsenal and the quest for success. A book about the Arsenal team coach/manager.

Ashley Cole, My Defence, an auto biography from an Ex Arsenal player (spit..traitor)

Under and Alone, William Queen. That one has been discussed here before. In fact it was the discussion on here that made me go buy it.

The next book on my shelf to read is, Well Made In America, Lessons From Harley Davidson and Being the Best. According do the notes on the back cover, it is about the revival of HD and it rise to being one of the top Motorcycle Manufacturers in the world.

I must confess, most of my reading revolves around one of four topics. Arsenal Football Club, Motorcycles (all brands and nationalities), Formula 1 Motor Racaing and Heavy Metal/Rock n Roll and particually KISS. I think i have and have read every book ever published (in English) on them.

Boring, well, thats me.
Last two;

Shadow Divers Exposed, by Gary Gentile. Bottom line, don't believe everything on the History Channel.

Born Fighting - How the Scots-Irish Shaped America, by James Webb. Excellent book, if you're into that sort of thing.

I am just finishing up "The Mountain of Black Glass" by Tad Williams right now, and am really enjoying the Otherland series. Ive got to agree with Brian about Jordan. The WoT series is great, but it needs to come to an end soon! Jordan had said that the series would probably not go more than 12 books. Given the fact that he has some fairly serious health issues that developed in the past year, I think he will probably wrap things up soon.

Tech manuals mostly, local news is not delivered on my street, (driver is afraid of dirt roads) I'm assembling a lot of equipment, (even have my own personal diesel station now!) the Deere is near 100 hours, the Triumph is near 12K miles, and the Night Train is near 1K in spite of the weekly wind, rain and snow storms.

The Mist is a story in that book and it's one of my favorite.

I'm a big SK fan as well, love "The Mist", and just read that the a movie is in development with Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile) directing and writing the screenplay with SK.

This ties in with the book I just finished. It's called "Heart-Shaped Box" and was written by Joe Hill, who happens to be the son of SK. It's about a older heavy metal rock god who buys a ghost off of an eBay like site and mayhem ensues. Check it out if you like that kind of thing
