Couple of questions........Before that I need to purchase the shop manual so I can work on this bike. (03 TBA) 7000 miles. What kind of mileage did you get on tires? How do you check then for inspection? And what about brakes? The more miles you put on her the better she runs.

On the first set of Bridgestones I managed about 10,000 miles before both needed changing. They have a wear indicator (little ridge) that is spaced around the centre groove of the tyre. When your tread is the same depth as this, it is best to change the tyre. Likewise the brake pads, these also have a wear indicator on them, look down from the top (I think) and you should see what I mean.

Good luck

Got around 8,500 miles from my tires.
Brakes? vary according to riding style / location. Very easy to visually check for wear. I found rear wear out SO quickly.

Replaced both tires at 12k miles. The rear was still good to go, but the front well into the wear bars and I didn't really care for the stockers anyway, so I went with Metzelers (just this past week). The brakes (f and r) were replaced with a warped front rotor at about 9k miles. They didn't need it, but the shop was pretty insistent that the pads should be replaced. OK, they really need the money, so what the heck. But I got the rear pads and did those myself.
