The tank should sit like the one in this picture. If the rear mounting bolt is in place the fore/aft location is correct but if the tank mounting brackets are not correctly mated the tank can sit way too high and be hit by the triple tree/ fork. If you can pull the front of the tank up more than a fraction of an inch, the bracket was missed last time the tank was put on.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
