Just picked up my new 06 America(SPOKES, MAN SPOKES) and after being off the road for a dozen years it was a tiring 65 klick ride home. Anyway the bike is bigger than it looks and won't fit in my garden shed door!!! Had to set up a tent to park it under. Feels like a big bike, bigger than my last Guzzi but once up to speed handling was very nimble. Seems like a lot of drive line lash but not too bad. Other than that little nit-pick looks like I'm going to enjoy this scoot!
Supposed to warm up this weekend and my fingers should be thawed by then so maybe I'll get a more enjoyable ride in.

Welcome aboard!

Go over your bike with a fine tooth comb Peter. Too many stories of bikes coming out of a dealer not properly setup.

Check your chain tension. Should be 20-30mm (0.787-1.182") or call it 3/4" to 1". That could be your lash problem

Standard cush drive rubbers are the pits. Ask your dealer to install Thunderbird cush drive rubber under warranty. The Tbird part # is T2012211

Ask the guys with the Triumph truck what cush drive rubbers they have in their America and Speedy cush drives.

Yes, that is one of the really strange things about the America, well most Triumphs for that matter. They seem to change in size to fit what you are doing. Maybe they should start making a model called the Tardis.
If you aren't used to chain drive, it will feel a bit loose until you get used to it, and the shifting clutches seem to have a bit of extra give to them, which is probably why they shift so nicely. It is true though, that some dealers, especialy those who sell other brands, often don't set Triumphs up correctly, so you might want to check the chain tension. You will find instructions for this in the owners handbook, which you will find in a small trapdoor in the passengers seat.

welcome Ding! Congratulations on re-entering the world of two wheels! I went 15 years without a bike before i bought my Speedy.

If you poke around in the Accessories section and the Vendors section you will find lots of doo-dads to help with those looks things and make your bike truly yours.
