Been running 125/42, 3 1/2 turns out, TBS needles, 3 baffles removed from stock America pipes, drilled airbox and filter, close to sea level. With an upcoming road trip, decided to put some quieter (-2 baffle) pipes on. When I removed pipes, noticed they were a little sooty. Installed -2 baffle set, tried my stock America needles with a shim. No good. TBS needles back in, much better, but no top end at all. Let off at WOT, bike would speed up. Tried 130 mains, they were worse. In a fit of frustration, drilled 10 3/8" holes in 3rd baffle. After checking Pat's jetting calculator, tried the stock 120's. Seems flat at WOT, tops out at 90mph. Dealer here does not stock jets, can't order them. Didn't know if our bikes had Mikuni's, or what. OK, no help there, ordered set of 122.5 from HD dealer, only come in 4-pack, but they are only $3 a set. Only thing I can afford in there, BTW. They will not be here til Wednesday, we are leaving Thursday. My question is, am I going in the right direction? Pat's calculator says 118's with TBS needles, but I remember having to go richer and richer when I de-snorkled, drilled box, and de-baffled. Thanks, all.
