It seems on tight left turns the bike feels like its hopping slightly around the corner.Right turns are fine.Bike has about 6K on it. I experienced this last year and changed out the tires to Avon Venoms this winter, but it did'nt make any difference rear shocks are set on the same setting. Anybody else had this experience?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete, I havent had this but maybe we can figure it out. Heres a few question. Does it happen during decel or accel? Does it happen all the time or just some time? Are the rear shocks set to the same setting?

Check the rear tire alignment. Sounds like it isn't true. Use a micrometer JIC.

If the micrometer doesn't work there is always global positioning!

My last post may not be clear- check to see that someone might have adjusted the chain tensioning mechanism on only one side leaving the rar wheel tracking out of alignment with the swingarm.

Had that or something similar after my new tires were installed at a shop I will never go to again. Terrible vibration in right turns. I don't know if you have a Speedy or America. I bought a truing stand, balanced and trued my wheels (I have spokes). Checked rear axle alignment. Noticed it was much worse when front tire was over-inflated.

Guy's new tires are balanced. Old tires did the same thing.Does'nt seem to matter if decel or accel.Adjusters are set properly and are the same. Was wondering if I could have a bad shock from the very beginning. How could I test the shock?
Thanks,
Pete

Havent heard to much about bad shocks.Theyre basicly just spring with a damper. I guess you could swap them side to side ad se if the problem move over or even goes away. Its easy enough but Im not sure youll see much of a difference

Pete,
When I picked up my bike brand new just went through their "dealers prep" when I got home 50 miles in the pouring rain. I went through it and found that one shock was set to the minimum setting (left) and the right side was set to the mid setting. I found a bunch of bolts that were under torqued or just loose. Plus I had 15 lbs. of air pressure in the front tire and 30 in the rear. For this privlage I paid $150.00 dealers prep charge.
Once I found the site and Pat's web page I downloaded everything he posted and went through it stem to stern.
Most likely not your problem, but I just do not trust those techs so I do everything myself. The biggest insult was the $250.00 oil change I had to pay for at the 500 mile checkup to keep the warrenty in tact. Needless to say I have never gone back to the dealer and never will.
GRRRRRRR !!!!!!!!

Erwin,
Libby's in New Haven, CT.. I was told at the time I bought it they had to do the 500 check up or my warrenty would be void.

HOLY SLICK CUSTOMER BATMAN!!! $250!!! I guess it was a long change they had to spend all that time with a tech working in it. Ya know it's a complicated job!!
Did you at least get a kiss at the end?

Could be a wheel bearing... I had to replace mine. Shake your rear tire back and forth to see if there is play in the bearing.

Yeah. You can leave the bike on the sidestand too. Just grab the wheel from the aft position and if any movement or clunk is felt at least one of three sets of bearings are bad.
