Hi all, I have an opportunity to purchase a summer screen for my BA at about half price. Can I have some comments as to how effect the summer screen is. I am quite tall 6ft 3inches so I just wonder how effective the shorter screen will be. Look forward to your comments.

I have a summer screen on my Speedmaster. It deflects the blast from your chest area only... Your face gets the full force of the wind.

Even at half price I bet you could buy a Memphis Shades setup or a Clearview . There are a lot of good shields out there, and being on the 6'+ side of things I would think you would appreciate a 17"-19" shield way more. I currently have the Triumph Roadster screen and it is very nice, pricey but nice. The windshield has several cracks that are getting bigger so I will need to replace it soon. I have already done the drill the cracks trick too, by the way. When I replace it I will probably get a Memphis Fat 19". Maybe even get the cool Red tint on the bottom, they would look cool on the red SM.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I have the summer screen. Without lowers, lots of buffeting around the head area. I'm only 5'11 and I'd prefer the screen be another couple inches high. Ditto to Pat's post above...I'd vote for the Memphis Fats 19".
I've never considered anything a bargain if I wasn't happy with it.

The Summer Screen seemed worse than useless to me. Brutal buffeting.

I had the summer screen on my speedy. Lots of buffeting around the head and shoulders. I switched to a 17" Memphis Slim. Much better. I'm 6'1". The Triumph Summer Screen looks sharp, but the Memphis Slim gives much better protection. Easier on the ears too. I can actually hear my pipes now.

I have the summer screen, and it works well for me. I am only 5'3" though. I do still get some wind in the face, but mostly from the side. I thought that that was one of the reasons for riding bikes is to feel the wind in your face?

You tell 'em, AmyLee... However, that head buffeting thing can make you want to quit riding... If the windshield isn't big enough to direct most of the air past your head, you will get pummelled, and find it's better using no screen at all. A small screen just channels the wind right at your noggin....

Hi all. Have decided, upon your advice, not to proceed with summer screen and will look for a manufacturer or distributor in Australia who can customise one for me. As you say it's not a bargain if doesn't work for you.

Im 6'0 and have the SS on my BA. Increased wind flow hits me right in the face. Hwy. speeds are uncomfortable. I would like to get a lightly smoked replacement that is about 18" instead of the stock 13" so I could still see over it. Cleaview Shields makes replacements for the Bonnie but needs a BA with the SS to finalize an improved screen for the SS mount. Anyone in the Denver area with a SS please contact sales@clearviewshields.com. Their screens are high quality and made to easily mount on the factory mount and reasonably priced (< 150.). Still haven't found anyone with a BA and the Summer Screen that is possibly driving distance to the Denver area. ClearView Shields very much wants input from America owners who bought a Triumph Summer Screen and have problems. Give these guys your input at sales@clearviewshields.com. The company also wants to get a BA to measure and will work a special deal for anyone who can get to them.
