Phil, would sticking all 50 states in there be too much work? It does add a geographical touch to the forum. I figured with you also being from Florida, there would be one of those for sure.

I bet you a pint that he would rather have a avatar. A real one in high resolution though.

I admit it. I did like have my own real avatar for a short time. So, yes, I probably would rather have a real Mulberry/Graphite avatar.

I'm going to go against the moderator consensus and say I liked the idea of having custom avatars, but I understand that it's a major PITA brought on by troublemakers (intentional or inadvertant) who believe they are immune from the AUP (I am NOT singling anyone out). And while all the mods can delete photos out of photopost, I believe there are only two people who can actually delete avatars directly in people's profiles. So it becomes a nightmare for ostensibly one person.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone could design a "build your own avatar" program. Choose your main color, accent color, with or w/o kneepad, standard or eyebrow emblem, standard or flush mount cap.

Sorry, I'm good at creative thinking, but not creative computing.

I liked custom too it made it easy to scroll to the person you wanted to or where you left off. I do also understand what friarjohn said I can see how it would be a real PITA if it falls down to 1 person to have to police it.

Thanx for the effort Phil , The flags are cool and help with what I was saying above. Also adds a little color and personality. I also like that they are animated. Very cool and thanx for the time and effort.

I liked the custom too.
It had to be a PITA for Phil though, cause so many kept changing them, and he had to keep checking.
It's really amazing how much babysitting a group of adults needs

It could work if every one was allowed to choose an avatar, have it approved, and then it was installed by Admin. Users would not be able to change it.

That would be a PITA too. So I understand and support the current policy.

And HEY, Phil is giving us a few more options than we had in the past.

I'd have to wash and wax my bike before a picture. Or......maybe we need a dirty tank avatar too

If I may speak for our esteemed Administrator for a sec. It's not the workload of checking for new avatars all the time that causes the stress. The stress comes when he can't monitor the site (because none of us should have to 24-7). Eventually someone posts something even a little offensive (as I said before intentionally OR inadvertantly). The war of words that ensues is what causes the stress. We went through this sort of debacle many times over the past couple years with Photopost. Most of it was a tempest in a teapot, but it still causes stress for the Mighty Moderator Corpsâ„¢.

Many times the view is not worth the climb. But I love the compromise that The Powers That Beâ„¢ came up with. More options available without letting it turn into a free-for-all.

(Hmmmm, that's two new trademarks in one post. A personal best...)

Phil, I've got a pretty nice one in my gallery, but it's of the left side of the tank, so "Triumph" appears backwards, and GOD KNOWS, we don't want to start that argument again, do we?

Lemme look through my files, I'm pretty sure I've got a nice side shot of the tank that I can tweak to show JUST the tank. OF course, if someone beats me to it, well, heck with ya then....

Besides the Silver/Graphite the ones I can think of off the top of my head are:
Green/Silver
Lt. Blue/Black Speedy
The new Mulberry Speedy
The new Blue/Cream America
Any custom painted tanks

Phil and Soren,
Thanks for all the effort put into this. The results are great so far.

When I get my bike back, I'll have to take a pic of a proper color 04 speedmaster- black & lt. blue!
