Now, most of you geezers aren't concerned with the following question, but:

Will riding, in cooler weather, lower sperm count?

That would be the downside of chaps. The air flow over the tank gets chilly. It gets cold enough round here that suddenly your jeans get loose.

I would say no.

Why do you think that that part of your anatomy hangs down.... Sperm like the cold. too hot and it kills them.

But I'm wondering why you want to know...

An article from...somewhere out there..

Does wearing tight jeans make men infertile?
If you wear tight pants, are you on the fast track to infertility?

In 1986, a scientific study suggested wearing tight pants or underwear could lower a man's sperm count. It was around the time tight jeans were going out of fashion. And when the media got hold of the story, baggy trousers were in.
Can tight jeans really lower a man's sperm count, or is it just a rumour started by opponents of revealing trousers? It's time for an experiment and we've enlisted the help of five virile young men. Hot young group Avant Garde have volunteered to put their tackle on the line.

The Avant Garde boys, Adam, Lee, Luke, Chris and Dave, have agreed to give one sperm sample now and another after wearing tight pants for six weeks.
The man in charge of the experiment is Dr Rick Gordon, a Sydney andrologist (male reproduction expert). He knows when it comes to testes, the right temperature is paramount.

"God intended your scrotum to hang in the breeze and be a couple of degrees cooler than the rest of your body, because sperm don't like heat. People implied from that that if you heated up the scrotum by wearing tight-fitting underwear or tight jeans then perhaps you would interfere with sperm production. So there was a real fad through the '70s and '80s by wearing tight clothing and then people realised that maybe that's not good for fertility," he says.
The testes are a very delicate piece of machinery. Sperm starts off as a germ cell in the seminiferous tubes, it takes six to eight weeks to move through to the epididymis, to mature and be stored, ready for the big event.

In Australia, it is estimated that male infertility affects about one in 20 men, and is the underlying reason for 40 percent of infertile couples using assisted reproduction.

When testing if a man is fertile, here's what is examined:

Sperm count. Men are most likely to be fertile with a count greater than 20 million sperm per milliliter.

Sperm movement (motility). Men are most likely to be fertile if more than 50 percent of sperm are moving.

Sperm shape and structure (morphology). Men are most likely to be fertile if more than 30 percent of the sperm have a normal shape and structure. Normal sperm have an oval head with a long tail. Abnormal sperm have a large, small, tapered or crooked head, or a kinky, curled or double tail.
The quality of semen can also vary at different times. For example, it can be affected by illness.

Now, the band had their sperm count checked yesterday and it's okay, and they'll give a second sample in six weeks.

Avant Garde have a hot gig, so it's the perfect excuse to buy some extra tight pants ready for our experiment.

And the latest in men's fashions? It's girls jeans! The thing about these guys (and a lot of young guys) is that they wear girl's jeans. They say it's because they fit better around the bum and are more stylish than men's jeans.

With restrictive pants firmly in place, it's time to put those testes to the test in this rather hot and sweaty experiment.

U B Wacked, Dawg...

Typically, sperm are most adversely affected by being over heated than moderately 'chilled'. If you recall, that is why many medical professionals who deal with reproductive issues recommend boxers instead of briefs.

Since you raised the issue, please share with us your need to know. I suspect you are contemplating one or more of the following;

1. You just feel like breeding
2. You are looking for a new form of birth control
3. You are looking for an alibi stating -"I ain't da daddy"
4. You just don't have another ****** thing that is motorcycle related to talk about.

As a follow-up recommendation - You really need an additional hobby or two...

First, Kevin - Thank you for your honest reply.
Next - Yes, the wife and I have begun trying.. and she was saying that I shouldn't ride the motorcycle, during the days leading up to "Ovulation Day", because it would lower my 'count'.

And thanks for your suggestions, Barry. I will take 'em under advisement.

First off never tell guys your trying we can live without the visual.
2nd if this month you don't succeed that just means you get to keep trying. (cause after you succeed opportunities are limited).
3rd The gherkin is coming into the world in August and I didn't put my bike away until January. So it didn't hurt us.

Does 64 years age count as a geezer? Don't know but do know that at 64 "getting lucky" refers to a successful bowel movement rather than to sex.

KILTS! THAT'S the ticket, Mike!

And ya know how I know this?

I recently read in an article on the internet published from the Edinburgh Star News which stated there showed a repeated trend that approximately nine months after the annual Highland Games there were little rug-rats poppin' out one after another all over the northern part of that little island known as the U.K.

(now, I may not be that big on kids and all, BUT I say I'm FOR anything that keeps those distilleries over there up and running, one generation after another, Dude!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Do cowboys make babies? Lets get into the way back machine. Riding horses all day with only the heat of the fireplace at night. Working in the cold tending to the ranch from morning to night. Most people are born in August. Ever been to Montana in November? It ain't warm.

I think its a very valid question. If you literally are going to ride when its so cold you will freeze them, take the car by all means. Ride on a warmer day.

I would get a second opinion other then your wife. Unless she is an MD specializing in fertility. What was that he called the expert in sperm count, an "Androlgist"? No one can say this site is not educational

Get the turkey baster !!!

Have her stand on her head after sex for 1/2 half an hour.

Tell her she must hold them in her cupped hands every night while she hums the Battle Hyme of the Republic.

After a couple of nights of this she will be more than ready to let up ride the bike.

Better yet get a bottle of wine take her for a ride find yourself a field and let nature take its course and you will have little ones running all over the place in no time.

From working in reproductive health- the issue really is more that male fertility is affected by high temps, hence the boxers suggestions.
Big Poppy's 4th suggestion gets my vote- make the baby making fun! Bring home a couple of cute little Baby Biker onesies or bibs for her to get all excited about....
I'm wondering if your Beloved is nervous? Or perhaps worrying about your safety, but not able to voice it? We females can get a little tunnelvisioned when we've decided to attend to the biological clock...
I'm happy for you and your wife, Mike- Blessings to you both!

Brilliant observation! I say if you wear boxers your fine, riding your bike will enhance the sperm count. Emotions can affect your labito. Those little guys will swim harder if your a happy man. As long as you didn't smoke hemp seeds you should be fine.....HAHAAA!

Mike,

DO NOT GO DOWN THIS ROAD!!!

Like Paula said you are putting undo pressure on yourselves.

True story

My older brother Ken and his wife Kim did exactly what you guys are doing timing and all kinds of crazy stuff for years and she never got pregnant they got so upset they adopted two boys (which was great they are both beautiful boys) they are both married now and have contributed to my moms and dads 35 grandchildren and 6 great grand children (I have 9 brothers and sisters). Once the pressure was off Kim had 7 kids of her own. It seemed every time her looked at her she got pregnant.

Make a game out of it Linda and I really did these things.

We got a jar and every time we had sex we both put a quarter in she got pregnant in about two months, but we had enough money in the jar to buy dinner to celebrate.

We had sex in every unconventential place we could find then when she got pregnant we tried to figure out where we were when it happened.

Brenden was conceived on top of MT. Southington Ski area it was a beautiful fall day for a hike.

Brett was conceived in the back of a Chevy Impala by the res. in Lexington, MA. I remember the windows were all steamed up.

Make a game of it and nature will take its course. Have you ever seen one of those reproductive shows on the Discovery channel those little buggers are resilient as ****** and I heard once that if compared to the top runners in the Boston marathon where it takes them 2 + hours to run 26 miles it would take them twenty minutes.

Have fun !!!!

Again I have a cell phone in my pocket at all times.
I ride bikes in the cold and sleds in the colder.
I eat whatever and drink diet Mt Dew.
And the wifes stomach is still growing.
If only all of this sperm lowering stuff would work we would solve the population problem.
