GB.. i say it was the gard rail that killed your friend not the lid she had on...lot's of safty devices like the "gard rail" are for cagers there design to keep's them safe but it's a death trap for us on 2 wheels.. as for the studies that you talk about by done by motorcycle groups.. i don't put much stock in them any study can be twisted so show the point of view who ever is paying for study...as for lids i where a lid i like mine and i use one at all times..and yes NY does have a law that makes you where one.. but even it did not i would still where one..and what i go by is this my wife is a RN nures at the bigger hospital here at rochester ny she has many years in at the E.D. she has seen a many motorcyle or as the hospital call's them' O.A.V.A'=OPEN AIR VEHICLE'S ACCIDENT...this is every thing from ATV'S 3 and 4 wheel's kind to bike's and over the year's she has founds this out the one's that have came in with out having a lid on have died there or are D.O.A..the one that had a lid on are a live...and she has also found that most that come in that were whereing a lid and did die were really killed by the same people trying to help them i.e E.M.T worker's ,fire men,or there firend's or by just people at the seen that don't know what they are doing.. one example is they move the person that is hurt.. this something that should never be done unless you know what you are doing you could cause more harm then good.. and the other thing they do if the person is whereing a lid they take it off of them.. this also something that you should not do very few people are trained in how to do this.many a person has been killed this way even by the E.M.T and fire people trying to help them..if they have just left the lid on let them remove it at hospital alot of the would still be alive and to tell the turth about this.. many family's were told they died because of broke neck or back and yes there back or neck was broke but when they were moved or there lid remove they then cut the spinal cord in wich killed them..now to go on to lid's she say the best one that protect the best is the full face one's but also goes on to say this one is also the worst one if they are try to help a downed rider because it covers the hole face she also says the hardest one to cut off is made by simpson say that this is one well made lid..and she also has told me that this new body armer is great stuff has saved many a rider i know we pick on them and we call them power ranger's suit's i belive it was grump that gave them this name but she tells me this stuff really work's and the diffrence between the riders that have this stuff on when they go down and the ones that don't is really big..meaning that one's that where it come out on hurt.. compared to the ones that did not have it on..now on to should we have a law about if we should where a lid or not and i know many people belive this to be a freedom of choice thing..now let me go on to tell you what i know about this.. there are a many a rider that is laid up in a home some were that we the tax payer are paying for because that ride chose not to where his/her protective gear..and it is sad they did not because i know a lot of them have cost there family's alot not only in the time they are losing with that loved one but the cost of giving someone that was hurt that bad 24/7 help..most of them the "family memebrs" have had to claim bankrupcy to get out of the cost of what it takes to take care of someone like that and what they have to do is turn the care of that person over to the state.. and now they 'THE STATE' have the say in what goes on with your loved one's... and also the pain to go see this person that you once saw who loved life and all it had to give..now needs to be spoon fed and has to where diapers.. "****** IF THIS WAS ME PLEASE JUST KILL ME".. and to tell you more about this.. now alot of these people would have died right there at the E.D. if the family just took some time to think about what the future would be like for there loved ones most that come in can't speek for them self's so they ask they family what they would like done most say please save our loved one when the really should say ok if he/she is going to brain dead or a veg for life just let them go..now people this is just what i know about this stuff all i can tell you make sure your family know's your what you want done if the ever happens to you and a living will would not hurt also..now i know this will ****** some of you off and some of you will agree with me but every thing i have wrote here to day is true!!! and it is also the way i feel about it !!!!
