I was thinking if I could buy a big peice of poly urathane I could cut it to make my own cush drive.. I have used the trans and motor mounts in my cars forever and they are indestructable but still absorb all the vibration.. any input??

My only thought would be, the cush drive is there to protect the tranny and if the poly is too hard maybe you have some damage.

I think it would do the job but probably not have as much give so damage would be possible I guess. Since there is no more primary chain to absorb some of it. i would have to look in the manual again to see if there is any shock absorbing device in our primary drives since I never had one apart. The old bikes had one.

im thinking with the belt drive conversion that would take up alot of the shock. I dont know of any harleys that have anything to cushion it besides te belts and they seem to last forever..

Was wondering the same thing about front sprockets. The stockers have that rubber part, aftermarket ones are solid steel.

lonzo, The rubber on the stock front sprocket is for dampening of chain vibration. But when I switched over I could not feel any difference either. I now run the QPD belt and it is much smoother overall.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

This might be a good next project for Brent. HD used to have a spring loaded engine sprocket on the primary. There was an inner part that was splined to the crankshaft and an outer part that had the sprocket. the two were sandwiched together with cam faces and held down by a heavy duty spring. The cam faces would allow the outer bit to force against the spring and absorb driveline shock. It should be possible to make something like this to fit the output shaft of the Triumph transmission and eliminate that rubbery thing.
