It was 1430 Wednesday before last. I was getting the feel of my ride again after 2 1/2 yrs of footing it. I started out feeling pretty good, the sun was high in the sky, the temps were about 80 degrees. I had been riding about a half-hour when I started getting a little hungry. Well, I saw this Frito Lays truck ahead and thought I might se they had any X-tra chips laying around for a weary traveler.

As I approached the truck behind some other vehicles (at about 25 mph) I suddenly noticed my snack bar was NOT moving!!! She-ite!!! I pushed, pulled, slammed, yanked and for damn sure puckered before, during AND after litterlly running into my snack bar!

Well, after feeling like the velcro man stuck to a seemingly unmovable net I peeled myself from the back of the double door on the truck and found footing again. When I stumbled back from the truck I thought, hell it's fixable!

Upon further investigation, NOT! I tweaked the frame, and everything on the front end to include the tank. (Sigh) So now i am attempting to take delivery of a new "07" in the next week or so.

Overall, I am fine and broke my big toe? I strained my only good knee I had left and now need a "scope" done on it to get it walkable again. It's hell to get old let alone gimpy! I had all the intent to make the rally but unfortunately men that is out for this year. I may ride again by the end of June hopefully.

Moral of the story is, don't drive in much traffic until learning how to drive on the "correct" left side of the road. I have driven in Japan for the last 3 years and needless to say that style of driving doesn't bode well for RH drivers!

In closing, you folks enjoy Chy hospitality and I look forward to NEXT year with a near new ride at that time. God bless and keep the dog gone thing right side up!!!

R,
Trumpy

If ins lets ya keep the bike I would be seeing a chopper project in the works. I have been keeping my eyes open for a crashed America or Speedmaster someone wants to part with CHEAP and start cutting and welding to build something like my 66 TR6C but out of the newer style bike. P.S. You are all the way in japan so don't get the impression I was asking just musing.

I'm glad it wasn't more serious. Be careful out there and get used to that new ride before attempting to catch anymore snack trucks. Otherwise the Frito Bandito might get you for good.

Dang Mark, that sucks. We were looking forward to seeing you.

Take it easy and heal well.

I'm sorry, Trumpy, for your misfortune. I am glad you were not hurt more seriously. Hopefully you will be up and riding soon. The bright side is you will get a brand spanking new bike

The important thing Mark is that for the most part you are okay. Bikes can be replaced, it's harder to get parts for ourselves.

Mark,

Rob, rode 600 miles + with a broken ankle, climbed a mountain and hiked for three months before he found out it had not healed the first time, whats a busted big toe I had my knee scoped and it was fine in three days.

You should still be able to make it the Chy's hell you have three weeks to heal up.

Glad your "ok" sorry about the bike, but your getting a new 07 for your pain and suffering.

Hope you will re-consider.

John

That blows! glad to hear your ok. The moral of the story is never ride hungry or you'll hit a food truck. too bad that doesn't apply to beer trucks, if you ride drunk you'll likely hit a beer truck
