As everyone has said already, leather boots that come above the ankle. Also highly recommend rubber or composite soles. Smooth leather soles like most cowboy or roper type boots have can be very slick when stopping somewhere that is wet or oil soaked and will be more likely to slip of the pegs if they get wet.
