i HAVE 4500 MILES ON MY 02 BONN.AMER. AN NEVER HAVE HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO. BIKE STARTED RUNNING BAD !!!LOCAL MECHANIC TRIED EVERYTHING HE KNEW AN THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A COIL. HE DID NOT HAVE THE TOOLS TO CHECK COIL AN SUGGESTED I GO AHEAD AN INSTALL TWO NEW COILS. I DECIDED TO TAKE TO DEALER WHICH IS 31/2 HOURS AWAY. LEFT BIKE THERE FOR TWO WEEKS AN THEN GOT A CALL THAT MY BIKE WAS READY. YES IT WAS ONE BAD COIL. TRIUMPH ALSO COVERED THE COIL UNDER WARRANTY ALTHOUGH THE BIKE IS OVER TWO YEARS OLD.I DO NOT UNDERSTAND BUT WAS VERY GLAD. I HAD ALREADY SPENT $120.00 JUST GETTING IT CHECKED OUT.
I WISH WE HAD A TRIUMPH DEALER IN MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. WHERE I LIVE. WE JUST HAD A NEW VICTORY DEALER OPEN LAST MONTH. WE NOW HAVE EVERY MOTORCYCLE DEALER REPRESENTED HERE EXCEPT TRIUMPH. IF ANYTHING ELSE HAPPENS TO MY BIKE I JUST HATE TO TRAVEL THE 14 TOTAL HOURS TO GET IT FIXED. PLEASE OPEN TRIUMPH DEALERSHIP IN MYRTLE BEACH, SURFSIDE BEACH, NORTH MYRTLE BEACH AREA. I AM NOW RETIRED OR I WOULD OPEN UP ONE MYSELF. I OWNED A CAR LOT FOR 25 YEARS AN JUST ENJOY RIDING MY BONN. NOW.
I THINK TRIUMPH IS A GOOD BIKE BUT THEY ARE HAVING SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE COILS. I HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL PEOPLE ON THE WEB SITE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS TROUBLE. SO IF YOU DO HAVE A SICK BIKE PLEASE CHECK THE COILS. THEY MAY BE FIRING BUT IF THEY ARE FIRING WEAK THE BIKE WILL NOT RUN RIGHT.
GOOD RIDING !!!!!

Stash, I'm interested if you could describe your problems a little further. My own bike's problems which have been vented here is now in the shop and their best guess is the coils. Long story short, mine ran great up until it got really warm, then it just died. Dead, no starting it until it cooled all the way down. I'm just intersted to hear what your symptoms were.

HELLO TBANGA; I HAD RODE MY BIKE ABOUT THREE MILES AND IT STARTED STARVING FOR GAS IT FELT LIKE. I EVEN DRAINED ALL THE GAS FROM TANK AND CARBS, NEW PLUGS, WE CHECKED EVERYTHING WE KNEW TO CHECK. I HAD TWO MOTORCYCLE MECHANICS CHECK IT OUT. THEY BOTH FELT IT WAS THE COILS. REMOVE YOUR PLUG AND LAY IT AGAINST MOTOR AND TRY TO START BIKE. I HAD VERY LITTLE FIRE, REAL WEAK. ALSO WHEN BIKE STARTED UP IT WOULD RUN BUT WHEN I APPLIED GAS THROTTLE IT WOULD DIE. I WOULD THEN CRANK BACK BUT WHEN I APPLIED GAS AGAIN IT WOULD DIE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH COILS ON THE OLD WEB. ONE GUY HAD TO HAVE BOTH COILS REPLACED ON A 04 BONV. AMER. AN HE HAD ONLY HAD IT FOR A FEW WEEKS. I WOULD SUGGEST STRONGLY THAT YOU GET YOUR BIKE TO A TRIUMPH DEALER. IT COULD EASY BE YOUR COIL OR COILS TOO. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A BAD COIL WILL CREATE DIFFERENT PROBLEMS. I HOPE TRIUMPH CORRECTS THIS PROBLEM. HOPE I HAVE BEEN SOME HELP !!!!!

Thanks Stash, Yeah it could surely be the coils on mine. It's been at the dealer since Sunday. They're supposed to tear into it tomorrow morning. I'm really hoping that they will take the time to put the miles on it that they need to in order to replicate the problem. It seems to run like a gem up until the point that it strands you on the side of the road for the night. I'll let you know what they find. Worst case, perhaps Triumph will replace the bike, but I'm not holding my breath just yet.

And you are "shouting" why? (because you're happy with your repair?)

I do know that all Caps is shouting. I was shouting because I was happy my bike had been fixed an also because it was fixed under warranty even though it is 21/2 years old.

Hi stash,

I'm glad that you knew that. It is awesome that you got her fixed under warranty too.

Now we need to shine a little light on Phil!

Which dealer do you use? Is it Ridge Motorsoprt? It is hard to believe that SC has only 2 dealers one in the upstate and one in Batesburg only 5500 people live in Batesburg.

Hmmm....sounds like the exact symptoms that put my 04 Speedmaster in the shop this week. I'll pass it along.
