Has anyone noticed that the OEM brake pads wear out real quick? After I replaced them I find myself constantly looking for the time to come when I need to replace the EBC kevlar pads. Maybe before Chy's second Thunder in the Mountains this coming May? The EBC pads remind me of that battery bunny....31,700 miles and counting.

Haven't tried the EBC's yet but I did just order a set from my dealer. Found a coupon in one of the bike mags for a free set of rears when you order the fronts. By the way...have just over 4k on the originals and they are shot.

10,000 miles and have just fitted my third set of rear pads.
The dealer gave me Triumph pads but were COMPLETELY wrong when I got them home.
Took the old ones back to the shop and was given EBC instead.
The Triumph pads are supposidly cheaper. Don't know how long they last though. Can't be any worse than the putty used by EBC, I wouldn't have thought.
It's a pain that they don't last longer - the only saving grace is that it's only a 10 minute job.
The saddlebag brackets don't help!!

I changed to EBC and they are wearing better but are a bit noisier.

I've noticed that too Phil, and that the fronts were thinner than the stocks, so I look at my brake pads a lot. Maybe just paranoid from the cheapo stock pads, we'll see when I get some more mileage on 'em....

My rear pads wore out real quick, had words about it with my dealer because they went to metal at 100km after a service (obviously they didn,t check them like they are meant to with the service), and because they wore out so quick i wasn,t expecting it either. TRiumph must have used a different brand in the front because I,m still running on them at 24,000km.

What's the EBC part number? Anyone tried the HH version (sintered) of same?

My rears were worn out at around 4000 miles, I replaced them with EBC's and now have just under 20000 miles with pad to spare. The front ones are still factory equipment and will be replaced with EBC's when the time comes.

Seems the rear OEMs average 4,000 miles. EBCs are much better. The OEM pads seem very soft material

how are the ebc rotors compared to stock?

I have the HH pads on front & rear of my bike. The rear set was similar in stopping power to the OEM pads. The fronts are far better than the OEM pads, a definite improvement.

I also flushed the fluid and went with Valvonline Syn-power fluid, which I use in all of my cars. Read in Cycle World that most of the staff uses this fluid in their own bikes, it's cheap enough and readily available

I know that Al uses the sinistered pads (Metal) as he provided those part numbers. The Kevlar numbers are EBC FA196 front and EBC FA214/2 for the rear. The cost is about 25 bucks an axle. Any honda dealership will sell them should a Triump dealer be located FAR Away....

Noticed a little "bumper" on the rear caliper - looks like it might contact the rotor before the pads wear out. Checked my rears with a flashlight, and have more pad left than I thought I would, with 5900 miles. I have been conscious of premature rear pad wear out, since so many of you have experienced it already - I try to let the fronts take the brunt of the work, but always use the rear first, just like the man says...break the inertia, then apply fronts with equal or greater pressure? The dual rotors really do well. Just looks like that bumper thing might be useful for something...
