Well just got off the phone and ordered my summer screen grom Clearview. Just to let you all know its a 4-6 week waiting period for the 17" screen. They do have some 18" in stock, so order soon if that is what you want.

They do have a 30 day return as long as you keep the thin plastic wrap on the screen and don't damage it. That is a plus. In case I need the 18" screen but I doubt it cause I'm only 5'8". Can't wait.

With my new risers from Brent, I should have a more comfortable ride.

good news and I'm almost certain you will love your screen. just for interest, here's a side photo of mine which is a 17" and it works very well for me at a 6'1". So for you I wouldn't have expected the 18" to be the right size cos with the sizing, you need to see over the screen by 2" by memory. That way the head wind delects over your head. In my case the wind just hits the top of my helmet but I feel no buffeting whatsoever. Also for interest, I have an open face and wear special glasses for day and night. Anyway coming home last night I forgot my clear glasses so rode without any. As it turned out because of the screen, I was able to see perfectly without getting watery eyes as I would have had without a screen. Goes to show the value of the screen I believe.

I tried the 18" screen and it was way too tall (you need to be 7 feet tall to fit the 18"). I returned it for the 17" screen which still seems a bit high, but it works well. I am 5" 11".

I worked with Clearview on the replacement Summer Screen. The pictures of the Triumph America on their web site are mine. I'm 6' tall and the 17" replacement works fine for me. I might could use an 18", but it wasn't available when the first one was made. I'm definitely sticking with the 17" as I don't want a windshield any larger than required to do what I want - get the buffeted wind over my head. My feeling is that you would probably need to be taller than 6' to need the 18".

I've spent a great deal of time working on this. There are a lot of different recommendations on how to judge the height of the screen. I've found the very best way to measure is to lay a yardstick across the top of the shield that is level with the ground and see where it hits you seated on the bike. You probably need another person to sight where it's level. It ideally should hit you between the top of your mouth and the tip of your nose. If it's below that, you can go up, but if it's above, you are too high.

If you have a Summer Screen and are looking at a Clearview replacement, get the 17" if you are 5'8" to 6' and the 18" if you're taller than 6'. I would still check the measurement with the yardstick before removing the plastic on the screen. Like I said a person 6' might could go either way, not all bodies are built the same. The level yardstick measurment is the best judge. Drive the bike before removing the plastic and make sure it is ok. You can exchange the shield if the plastic has not been removed.

RamSound,

Yea, I remember when you were working with Clearview to make a screen for our bikes. Don't know if they gave you a deal or not, but hey, I just wanted to say thanks for doing that. It is appreciated!!! I am psyched, can't wait to start putting on my new goodies.

Rick
