I am a noob about to take the 'MSF' course to determine if riding a bike is for me. In the meantime, I would like to ask a question or two in regards to Triumph motorcycles.

Most all of the folks my age (39) in my neighborhood own Harley's and suggest that I need to purchase one for the following reasons. THEY own them and state that Harley's ride with Harley's. Misery loves company. But seriously; real motorcycle enthusiasts don't care what you ride.
Two, there is a decent market for used should I decide to sell. Not as much as they'd like you to believe.
Three, there are MANY Harley dealer's in the Nashville, TN area and that I would not find difficulties finding parts, accessories, etc. True, but do you have a Triumph dealer nearby (or an independent bike shop)? If you can change your own oil, you've got enough mechanical skill and along with the pointers from this site, you'll do OK.
Four, because it is a Harley! And that's important why? I've always wondered if the folks sporting the decals and clothing really ride or just want to be perceived as something else. To me, unless it serves a purpose, it's just a Halloween costume.

Well, I typically am not one to follow mainstream. There's your answer!
I was attracted to Triumph because I don't see a whole lot of them out there and thought that it would fit somewhere in between the Japanese and Harley branded bikes. I agree. And your Triumph won't be instantly obsolete in a couple of years when the latest, greatest Asian clone is introduced.

Can you owners please tell me if my thinking is logical, illogical, or way off base? Oh, and another reason why I am attracted to Triumph is that the price point is VERY ATTRACTIVE. Why are they so attractively priced? After riding for more than 35 years, I was willing to spend more to get what I wanted. This was just a bonus!!!

Is it just that Harley's are OVERPRICED? Some people will pay anything to feel like they're part of a crowd. Sad, that they have such low self esteem.

Let us know which new Triumph you choose!
