Gina came to see me last week (Hey Gina.. how's sunny old England?) and amongst other things we went to see Australia Zoo (of course). While riding back we hit some fairly heavy traffic on the highway and were weaving through it, making fairly good time when my bike decided to stop for no apparent reason. I checked all the usual suspects, concluded that I had the same problem as Gina's bike at home with a dodgy intermittent computer, and called a friend to come out with his truck and pick me up. Of course the bike started without a problem 45 mins later so we met him down the road a way and it's been flawless since.
I took it to the dealer last Tuesday to make use of the fairly expensive extended warranty they'd talked me into when I bought the bike. They felt it was more likely to be the pulse generators rather than the computer itself, so I left it with them for 3 days while they tried to replicate the problem. They still didn't know by Friday lunchtime but had found the problem by that afternoon - a breather pipe that runs from the carbs to below the bike had become so blocked with mud that just putting your hand near it was enough to stop the bike. Their theory is the rain on the day got the mud wet which stopped the bike till it dried out again. I'm still not convinced but I'll take their word for it and keep my cellphone charged up.

MEP just used a tube saw to cut out the standard pipes from the end of the silencers. It's not chrome in there, it's black, so they just resprayed it with black hi temp paint.
Never got the freak.
