I was unable to get in to it so as the bike is a write off I clipped the wire the bike side of the connector box. Will be delivering it to the Triumph dealer to put on my new black SM next week. Yep, that's the connector. My alarm's aftermarket and I fitted it by cutting the connector off completely, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a security feature that makes it damn near impossible to disconnect it. That's why there's a security torx screw in the battery cover - it's not so people won't steal your battery, it's to stop them disabling the alarm and lifting your bike onto a truck.

Oh, and yeah I suppose you could take the console off the tank before you remove it, if you really think it's a good idea to avoid stretching & breaking your wiring.
