After a day and a half of riding, turning screws, changing jets, buying gas, smiling my butt off, grinin till my jaw hutrz...
I got em 99% ready!!!
The throttle response is most excellent (as Ted would say) and the neck-jerk factor is improved by quite a bit.
I started with a basic jet size (and it ran like a monster but too lean by a lot- upped the mains - see Throttle position thread up there ^) and got it way closer. Then did the WOT, let off a pubimeter - accelerated - needs Bigger mains - upped the mains about 20 steps, repeat - still a minute acc after let off WOT - need to increase by 2.5 now.... So, it is popping on decel (yea, later after WOT then Mod throttle are dialed in - again - see the throttle position thread above... but is is so friggin close now I am orgasmitric..well not really but close)
stay tuned (geez I bust me up...), same bat time, same bat channel...

Hello, sounds great with your achivement so far. Since I'm into the same thing but with my CRII's I'm curious about the smart way of synchronizing these non-vacume carburators. You got any ideas on best practise? Regards Hasse

Been riding with them about 150 miles so far and the difference is outstanding according to the butt dyno and Jane's expression as I have no problem keeping up with the Magna now. She even said she can hear a difference in engine sound and that it seems a lot peppier when she now "tries" to take off and leave me behind like she used to do. There is still a small popping on decel I am working on, I am pretty sure it is an air leak somewhere though and I am going to completely remove the exhaust and reseal it all up starting at the headers. I'm waiting ti ride with Matt so we can compare his big bore with stock carbs to mine with the 36s side by side down the road (with no cops in sight if you know what I mean ). But overall I am extremely pleased with the results and will definetly be keeping these on the bike. Hopefully I can still make the Georgia run and I'll show them off there. If not, I will at least make the Triumph Come Home rally since that is only 4-5 hours away. That all depends on if I have to go back to work by then.

So afer the jetting seems pretty good, I am still going up a step with the mains and if the exhaust seal job doesn't help with the popping on decel (on only one side oddly) I will go up a step with the pilot jets, then maybe play with the needles a bit too. It's still a work in progress, I will try to get it on a dyno before the month is over.

Pat, I am getting more popping on one side as well with the 42's. Mine is on the right if sitting on the bike. I believe I don't have enough back pressure from a previous setup mod to my pipes. I would always expect more popping from these carbs as they shut off the fuel at closed throttle pretty quick in comparison to our stockers. You agree?
Or, I could be crazy. Or crazier depending upon whom you ask.

Great news Pat and good on you for persevering. It's taken a while but it sounds like it was worth it? I will be interested to see the comparisons now and hope you may be able to put something up on the tech site for others to explain how you did it etc.

Got em pretty good now, but with the snow on the ground and really cold temps, dyno is out for the next few weeks at least. Hopefully before the Goergia run.
