What are our options for locking the throttle hand grip for highway cruising? I know about the rocker grip, but that doesn't lock the throttle in any position. Thanks.

Vista Cruise makes one that will fit with some fiddling.

I remember a thread on the old board that referred to using an o-ring of the appropriate size to "roll" from the grip area up to the space between grip and housing body.
Never tried it but it sounds simple enough. Try searching the arcives at home page bonnevilleamerica.com and see what you come up with.

I was NOT the one to suugest the o-ring but I do use one, only I have it between the throttle & the bar end piece. Have used it at highway speed of 80+ with no problems. Best 25c anyone can spend.

Newt was the originator of this idea and I also used this method. Worked very nicely.

It will only work on the stock grip. I had a couple of pics but cannot find them now.

Here's the ACE Hardware numbers:
1 1/2" Slipjoint Washer - 4028338
Sink Strainer Coupling Washer - 4099875

The flat one is used to keep the other washer (grey rubber) on the grip (close to the housing). It's loose enough that it will fall off when it's in the 'off position. The idea is to roll the washer between the grip and the control housing where friction causes it to keep the throttle open. It's enough to keep you from having to hold it open but not enough that it will stick there. It will eventually roll off and you throttling it back is no problem. I sometime forgot it was there and left it in riding around town. However, I am also in the habit of positively closing the throttle and not relying on just letting go to close it.

Betwixt the control and grip. I looked for the pics I had uploaded and have no idea where they are. I did take a piece of another pic and blow it up a little. You can see the grey one there and the keeper to the left (outboard of the control). The grey one rolls into the gap between the grip and control.

I have one of those simple plastic devices you are refering to. It is a NEP cruise control for a Honda that was adapted to fit. Fits between grip and control housing, has a thumb lever to lock and unlock and a set screw to adjust the tension around the throttle sleeve. Diameter has to be filed larger and keeper relocated if you want, cost about $20.00.

Unfortunately, no apps for Triumph cruisers.

I use a Throttle Rocker. It's not cruise control, but it takes the pressure off your hand so it doesn't cramp. $10 including shipping.

I've got the Kuryakyn ISO grips with the Throttle Boss. Doesn't lock but lets you relax the grip. Very comfortable.

Ed, walk into any bike shop and in the parts/accessories look around, or ask the counter person, they all have them. Throttle Rocker is a brand name, but it's about like Kleenex. A couple of places make them, but everyone know Throttle Rocker.

I bought one of those NEP cruise controls for my bike a few years ago and could never get it to work right. It is always in the on position. I did file the hole larger to fit (maybe needs to be filed larger?) and filed the keeper a little smaller to fit. Does your work properly? If so what did you do exactly?

Tinman; The cruise works perfect, looks like it was bought to fit. I filed the diameter until the throttle turned freely. I also removed the keeper tab, riveted on a tin tab to tie into the screw on the bottom of the handle bar housing. This gave the thumb lever the orientation I wanted. Sorry, I don't have the picture available right now.

Thanks. I never thought of relocating the tab. Maybe I'll play around with it some more.
