I think that works great if you have a good local shop that can build it for you. I've often thought about stripping my stock seat down to the pan, trimming it up a little and taking it to the local leather shop, but I don't think they have the experience with seats and they'll charge me an arm and a leg. Doing it mail-order is a pain. After I had Corbin re-work the foam density, I love the seat. Is it the best? Probably not. But for the amount of travel I do, which is nowhere near Iron Butt levels, it's fine. And honestly? Initially I only got a Corbin for the backrest.
