Metzlers give you best of both worlds depending on compound ofcourse. Last pretty long while giving a sure footed grip.

Was there any clearance problems with the larger tire?

No problems with the tire. The console was painted by roughing up the chrome finish with 200 grit sand paper ,being careful not to sand out any shapes or lines putting a coat of sandless primer and then painting , clearcoating. Very happy with the results.

How can you possibly hear tire noise on the hiway?!?
Tread design can do lot of noise rolling. Put your bike on the highway with a bit rough new asphalt at 60mph higher gear, a bit of throttle, and you can listen it. It's a noise like a transmission chain, but more padded.
Use a dirth bike with off road tires on flat asphalt...
I didn't write MT66 are s%it, I'm only saying it's a tire I've used sometimes and I don't like.
Maybe lot of people can feel it good...

I have heard tire noise as well even with loud pipes. Just like I can hear a small out of place noise in the engine or trans.

Vic where did you find the paint to match so well?, i love the console done in blue - my chrome is getting a bit knackered and that would be the perfect fix
