Kim got me tix last year for the B day. Great outdoor show! Talks more than he plays, but he can still get the riffs out and has an AMAZING backing band!

I saw him the first time in SandyEggo California back in 1973. WOW is a good word. Kenny Loggins and Jimmy Messina opened up for him.

BB Trivia -- The very large (5x?) type horn player (if he's still with him) is his nephew, Walter Riley King.
In 06 he said his touring days were over. At age 81, with Diabetes, it's a miracle he can still perform. A living legend indeed.

I saw him for the third time last November in Spingfield, MA for my birthday. He does still put on a good show!

No - very large man, like, size 5x-tra large - Think nearly the girth of BB, (but not quite) and add 10 or 12" of height
I can't remember what he plays.
Last time I saw BB King's band, (when he headlined for an Alligator records tour, but I don't think that's his label) he had an old guitar player with him who looked around 110 years old, and played a few licks per stanza. You couldn't hear him, but that's OK. Maybe an old friend who needed the work or something to do?

I think Martin's Talking about the large sized trumpet player. "Boog-A-loo"?
I worked a lot of shows w/BB when I was with JW. He is a true ambassador of the blues. After a show, he'd sit in a dressing room, and personally greet everyone who lined up backstage to meet him. At times, there were well over 100 people lined up. And he wouldn't leave, until he'd said hi to everyone.
Not to mention his feel for the blues, Uncle Charlie

Ah yes the trumpet player! Robert Randoph had a trumpet player like that. He only came out for a couple tunes. I think they called him Tiny or something.... Anyway, he rolled out to the front of the stage, blew the roof off the houses across the bay from Jones Beach, and then left. IT was awesome.

Told Lynn about you seeing BB and she said she saw him in Satellite Beach a handful of years ago. Man, I wish I could see him in concert.

BB King is a showman in the truest sense of the word, he's not half baaad with a guitar either. He rode a purple bus into Missoula, maybe the best show I've seen, maybe 8 years ago. He actually played on a stage below a bridge "down by the river"
