yeah kinda like Dale SR...even those who HATED him missed him when he was gone...

then again HE never rubbed it in that he was riding and my baby is still snow bound (even thou I could have ridden today...were it not for the field of snow and ice blocking my way to the street from the shed)

so yup, a smack in the back of the head for you when we meet some day

Hey on the bright side Mark...the South Shore and the Cape...typically have much less snow then the rest of the state (and region for that matter)

I notice that we all normally build up so many smacks for each other that they seem to cancel each other out.

GA sounds fun! 1800 miles is a long ride. I might try to make the AZ Ralley though. The wife seems to have our whole summer all planned out.

Tell you what, You go to AZ this year and I'll hit GA next year.

I was out last week, then it snowed and I went back to the arctic cat. Currently the cat is sinking in the mud. But there is too much sand on the road for me right now. We should get a rainstorm tonight that will wash some of this away.

Snow and ice here too and lots of it. Today can finally see some grass where the snow had blown thinner than most of the yard. Still lots of salt and cinders on the road but we did get out for a ride right before it snowed. It was 70 degrees out then it snowed the next day!!! about 18 inches too!!!

Were in MA, and what do you do?
And holy cow I just found a couple awesome roads in VT this week. Rt 125 from Middlebury over the Frost national forest should be great. If only VT would pave more often.

That would be "the gap". Of course just about every town in VT has "The Gap" over the mountain "Usually if you ask someone where the gap is, you're in for a good ride!!

Rob, I have heard a lot of people sorta separate the syllables, so it almost sounds like an "e" which makes me think that is the ONE town that IS pronounced like it is spelled!
Don't forget towns like "Leicester"...

No not like a full syllable, but almost like just a little tiny hint of a break between the "ll" and "r". More like winding up to the R

Seriously Mark, the south shore isn't fantastic for riding, but just remember how SMALL the states are you are talking about. 20 minutes on the bike gets you thru Providence into souther RI where there are some moderately interesting roads leading into CT. Or jam up 140 into MA towards Worcester and just bang a left somewhere. Het out around the Quabbin for a few hours. MUCH less BS to ride thru before the good stuff than in NY.

Try getting in touch with Paula (Ariumphgoddess) I believe she is either from that area or familiar with it. Kinda surprised she has not responded to this thread.

Mark,

You are being banished to the a**h*** of the world. Fall River, MA. is part of my sales territory and there is not much there.

Providence is full of college girls and bars a great place to party, about 25 minutes south of Fall River. 25 minutes southeast and your on the Cape many good riding roads. on the Cape and surrounding area.

A decent home outside of Fall River is going to cost you 250,000 to 500,000 depending how far you get away from Fall River.

Fall River, was originally a whaling town and now is a fishing port. The population is a mix of hard working Portuguese, gangs and bums.

Honestly, I would never move my family anywhere near Fall River, MA..

Best of luck..Fall River is a tough place..lots of trouble..
As far as riding goes..the best roads ive been on are north of Boston..up along the coast past Lynn into Marblehead and Rockport.also rt133 from glouchester thru middleton is very nice..but really go rt 1a north into New Hampshire..that is by far the best riding in area

Just catching up....

Hey Mark,

Don't listen to all the naysayers...What is it they say...."Wherever you go, there you are."

Most importantly, Armand's in Halifax is the local Triumph shop. Good folks and service, about 30 minutes from Fall River.

The Hen House down on 105 is a great trashy, divey biker bar. 105- pretty riding, and a great destination for drinking and cigarettes, although I doubt they'll pay you...

If you don't want city livin', but want to be close to Fall "Rive" ( yes, "Rive", as in "Reeeeeeve"), check out Datmouth, Achushnet, Rochester, Rehoboth, Berkely....If you wanna live near the H20, check out Fairhaven, Westport and Mattapoisett. If you want city livin' in FR, let me know and I'll find out the good neighborhoods (there are some, contrary to popular belief). Stay out of New Bedford, period. If you want to live in Providence, check out the East Side of Providence, not East Providence-that's different. The East Side is over by Brown University where allegedly one finds the hot, rich girls. Excellent live music scene in Providence.

RI has some awesome coastal riding....I tend to head off that way when I get bored of the Cape coast. There's great Cape riding, plenty of hidden gem secondary roads once you get over the bridge. Some good country roads in the Middleboro/Carver area.

Traffic is nothing compared to NYC. No real public transportation, though, in the Southcoast part of MA.

Let me know what other info you need!

Any idea of what traffic is like in/thru Providence? Looking at some nice places 15-20 miles south of Providence and was wondering if it would be doable traveling thru Providence twice a day or possibly hitting the bridges and head thru Newport.

I used to work in RI....95 coming up into Providence bogs up for the morning and afternoon commutes, as does 195 and the 24 area as you're coming up from Newport.....Are you thinking Warwick/Cranston/Wakefield? Rte 4 (I think) is slow going as it intersects 95 north to get up into Providence. The bridges near Newport are only a hassle in the summer, heavy on the tourists. Some of the RI news station websites would have traffic pages that would give you estimates of commuting times I bet.

A couple of pages back, Shane was bustin' on us New Englanders
for our lousy weather. Well, it looks like payback time.
It's 73 here on the CT coast, and he's gonna get hit w/snow.

Hey Shane, does Frankie have snowshoes?
