I am in NE PA so I have been to and through Mass more than once on rides. There are some really cool things to see. Mystic Sea Port in Conn. isn't far very cool authentic whaling village with the oldest sailing ship still afloat Charles W. Morgan whaler. They unfurle the sails a couple times a day and you can explore it. There is a Sea museum in Mass. Where you can explore a battleship the Massachusetts and a destroyer the Kennedy and a sub from WW2 the Lionfish I know they added some attractions but not sure what haven't been in a couple years. I know quite a few cool spots up that way to check out.
