Yup...It's looking like I'm getting the opportunity to turn into one of them thar Massholes. Boss-man gave me the tap on the shoulder last night and it looks like it'll be some time in June till I physically move...although I'm already there mentally as far as I'm concerned.

So anyways, This goes out to anyone who lives in MA, has lived in MA, wants to live in MA, or really just anyone with an opinion on the matter...can't imagine finding any opinionated folks around here. My job will be in Fall River, MA in the south shore region of the state...kinda between Providence, RI and the cape.

So for the questions.

1. Most importantly, I know that western MA has some nice roads, but what's the riding like out by the cape?

2. Traffic around those parts? And remember I deal with NYC traffic on a daily basis now.

3. Areas to live in and stay away from?

4. Are there really hot, rich girls in Providence like I've heard?

5. Anyone out there wanna pay me to drink large amounts of alcohol while amazingly smoke large quanties of cigarettes at the same time?

Went to Boston once. It snowed and it was cold. Excellent Guiness though. So well worth the trip.

But it was cold......................and it snowed.

I don't live in Mass, you should move to SLC. Lots of good roads, tons of good home brew, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN , light traffic (compared to NYC), no helmet law, no emissions for motorcyles, 6 Ski resorts within 45 min radius, you can smoke in bars, you can buy a house near downtown for under $300,000 and there really isn't a bad area.

Myth: You can't get a drink in Utah. BS, I am a DRUNK!
Myth: Utah has weird alcohol laws. Really no different than Colorado other than the "Private Club" thing. Private clubs are a silly old law that is sorta grandfathered. It consists of a 12 dollar per year membership required by the state. Most bars charge it to avoid a fine. I have paid for 2 maybe 3 memberships in 13 years.
Myth: There are too many Mormans. Not really Salt Lake City itself is about 70% non Morman. Mormans are really good people and will always help you out.

I'd have no problem living there. Even in when I used to live in PA, I'd ski 80 days a year.

Yup I grew up on the North shore and Metro Boston spent MANY MANY summers on the cape...lived there all my life till I moved to NH ...what you want to know???

1> it's not called taxachusettes for nothing.
2> It is now and for ever will be run by the Kennedy's and their ilk
3> Cambridge is a state of mind NOT a city (it has it's own rules...and DEFINATELY hears a different beat)
4> there are no "riding" roads on the cape only 1 road onto and 1 road off of (ok thats a BIT of an lie...but not much)and once your actually ON the cape there are some cool roads to run

In all honesty I still like MA alot and it does have some cool stuff to offer...but the C.O.L. is SO much cheaper here in NH ...

My parents moved to Park City when I was 18. I moved here shortly after to Snowboard and go to School, I never left. I used to get 100-120 days a year. Spring here is awesome! You have a tons of Choices. Go for a bar cruise, golf, Snowboard/ski, Skateboard or just sit in the back yard, drink and bbq.

My Dad came from Palmer and moved back when he first retired. I spent a lot of vacations as a kid at Grams place then brought my own kids to see thier GP's. Beautiful area with nice roads. Don't go to Provincetown for whale watching unless you can deal with guys holding hands and kissing. Too much traffic there anyway.

Both!!! HAHAA! I'm usually the drunk type. I gotta go work for a few hours then jump on my bike and head to the bar. Hopefully I don't drink so much I have to leave it there. Lucy gets pissed when she is left alone in a parking lot all night. Oh and your invited to a spring BBQ at my house tommorow, We'll be playin' horse shoes, drinkin' whiskey and cookin' meat. Oh, after we go snowboarding at Brighton.

I grew up in Dorchester and it was tough then, so I agree that it's best to stay away as it's gone down from then.
Fall River has a substantial Portuguese population, so food opportunties are good. Try the linguica, a sausage that you can buy fresh made (and smoked) locally.
Rich girls in Providence? Can only tell you that my gorgeous daughter is there but has NO money and won't ride my TBA never mind yours.
By the way, have I mentioned lately I'm moving to SC next week? Temp today 80. Really gonna miss the NorthEast!

Kinda funny how when someone "respectable" like Pat posts about possibly moving to TN, he gets all kinds of quality advice. When I post about it, we just talk about drinking.

1. Most importantly, I know that western MA has some nice roads, but what's the riding like out by the cape?

Very dangerous travel area - lot's of touristas doing cool stuff, like, stopping in the middle of the 60 MPH road to read the signs, and pulling into traffic without looking due to a carload of screaming brats. Heads up 24/7 out there. Route 6 has a cute nickname - something like "Suicide Expressway" or "Highway to Hell." The traffic circles are a gas too. You'll see.

Quote:

2. Traffic around those parts? And remember I deal with NYC traffic on a daily basis now.

Cape traffic is kind of like NYC, but the drivers are wearing Bermuda shorts and knee high black sox. The two bridges to the Cape will make you feel right at home. The good news is there are 16,000% less potholes than in the Rotten Apple.

Quote:

3. Areas to live in and stay away from?

New Bedford = crime

Quote:

4. Are there really hot, rich girls in Providence like I've heard?

Many many many extremely hot Portuguese girls. Rich? Well... no. Newport = rich girls. Sailing chops, pinky finger gig , and the family crest sewn upon your motorcycle jacket are required. Old money. Providence used to be one of the major Cocaine distribution hubs in the Northeast corridor. I don't think it is anymore though. There might be a mob princess or two leftover from the olden days though.

Quote:

5. Anyone out there wanna pay me to drink large amounts of alcohol while amazingly smoke large quanties of cigarettes at the same time?

Yes, but in Provincetown, it will cost you the ability to sit down comfortably in return. Suggest an ample supply of Preparation H

``````````````````````````````
A beautiful but as of yet not completely over run with touristas area is the beach area in and near Charlestown, RI. The water is warm enough to swim in there, due to the LI Sound. As far as commuting from Charlestown to Fall River goes, the bridges might drive you nuts twice a day.
Tell you what, I'm going to see her Sunday and I'll mention this opportunity to her...a Brooklyn accent could make a difference.
Anyway, two questions: Do you have any money? and,if so, will you ride on my TBA?
Were in MA, and what do you do?
And holy cow I just found a couple awesome roads in VT this week. Rt 125 from Middlebury over the Frost national forest should be great. If only VT would pave more often.
