Not all afterarket pipes are a waste of money. They may be a bit expensive, but pipes for our bikes from Thunderpipes, D&Ds, Scepters and etc are pipes that are made for our bikes, so they come pretty much pre-tuned. So you are paying for two things, the looks (and style) of the pipes and the ready-2-go performance of the pipes.

Now for those that are bit more mechanical, have experience, have time and etc. maybe aftermarket pipes are not the way to go since you can do it yourself.

I bought a set of generic slip-on fishtails for my bike. I bought them because I love the looks. They sound good, but are bit too loud. Unfortunately I don't really have the time or a place to work on them to re-baffle them the way that I would like to do it. If someone made a set of fishtails just for my bike, would I buy them?, I probably would, it would be worth the time.
