seems like it would be a great experience but without a doubt quite demanding in regards to the family, job, finances, etc. I think I saw your bike blessing listed somewhere, maybe full throttle magazine? I might make the ride down there if the weather cooperates.

Guy's,
We should try and get everyone together for the blessing, I hear it is quite a show and good time. With the 1,000 mile iron butt challege I'm going to do with Dill and Rob at the end of April to GA. I could use all the help I can get.

If my bike is road worthy, I plan on going I'm about halfway between Wolcot and New London, depending on what road you choose.

A tempting trip across the ferry.... I have a buddy I stay with in Oakdale a lot too. If the weather looks good, I might go for it. We should pick a meeting place (like a Target or something) if we get a group together.

I'll try to get there, if the parts come in...
That looks like a great club - wish they were a little closer to my locale.

If Glastonbury [Near 84 & 91] works for a meeting point, consider
The Dunkin Donuts at the Stop & Shop in Glastonbury
From route 2 East, take exit 5C for Maple St
Turn right at Maple St
Turn left at Main St
[Heads up on this one -
I don't recall if 5C
is a left lane exit? ]
``````````````````````````````````````
If Branford [Near 95 & 91] is more appropriate, consider
Starbucks @ The Travel Ctr
3 E Industrial Rd
Branford, Connecticut 06405
At exit 56, turn RIGHT onto Ramp
Turn LEFT (North-West) onto Leetes Island Rd
Turn RIGHT (East) onto E Industrial Rd
``````````````````````````````````````````````````````
If we need more options, I'd be happy to brew up the directions.

East Haven would be easier for me. Maybe ctnewbie and capn will want to go. They haven't been on a ba.com group ride yet, well except for a short ride with me.

Oh yeah, there's a Starbucks on rt1 in East Haven that we stopped at on the "mert's rat pack" ride.

To make life a bit easier, I'll insert the Starbucks directions above
There are two Starbucks in that area, so I picked the one that
looked like it would work.

Glastonburry would be Ideal for me, about ten minutes from me,
Shortest route from there would be shoot right down rt 2 to Rt 11 then rt 85 right into downtown new london. Traffic on 2 is light on sunday morns, rt 11 triffic non-existant, rt 85 is 2 lanes widens to 4 when you hit "Mall Country". But it hooks right into Ocean Ave in downtown New London.

Chances are we'll need both meeting places. The two groups could then meet at Stash's for breakfast, if so inclined, then on to the Bike Blessing together from Stash's.
I'm in for Glastonbury. Jack, pick a time for both Glastonbury & Stash's, and with any luck, I'll see you at The Stop & Shop. I'm only an hour and 15 from Glastonbury.

A note to all - this isn't a private party or Triumphs only gig we're brewin' up.
It would be great to see as many forum folk, friends* & families as possible.

yeah both places would probly work best.Figure about an hour from Glastonburry to Stash's by the route I mentioned, (it will also avoid most casino traffic) So If you want to have time to gas up, and get a coffee.And make it to Stash's around 10ish for breakfast I'd say meet in Glastonburry around 8:30. Could still be a little cool that early.

If breakfast is a problem or club members only, that's cool. There must be a McD's or the like around there where the non dues paying folk could hang until the gates open. I didn't mean to invite myself -- just trying to move things along if they may get stalled in committee. Although I'd love to see 20 or 30 ride out from either point astride their shiny noble Triumph steeds, experience has shown it's often more like 4 or 5 people total who show. Hopefully more.
With any luck, and with the help of UPS etc., I hope to see you at 8:30 on Sunday 04/15 at the Stop & Shop in Glastonbury. Shouldn't be too hard to spot Trumpets in the parking lot at that hour. If for some reason I can't make it, I'll post or IM you.

Ok John so far this is whats kinda Nailed down.
LJ3000 and I and I'm thinking maybe Mr's LJ3000 plan to meet at Stop & Shop dunkin donuts in Glastonburry around 8:30 on the 15th.
From there to Stash's Cafe in New London ETA around 10:OO.
I think there is some discussion of a meeting place for folks comming from SE part of state.
I dought that the 10:00 breakfast at Stash's is a member only thing but I'll find out just in case.

My buddy lives right off 85 in Oakdale. Ya know that one light a couple miles before 395 where there are TWO liquor stores and an old gas station? Up that road. Just down into "mall country" there is a Dunkin Donuts we could meet at if we need alternative breakfast grub. Just an idea.. As long as it is not super bad weather (or some family stuff with my grandmother comes up) I will try to make that, so I'll at least be waiting on the side of the road somewhere to file in

Live and learn - I've lived around CT for at least 40 of 49 years, and always thought Oakdale was near Wallingford. I was thinking, how can Benny be near 395 in Oakdale, so I ran it on the map software. Zuh!
Must be because of the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford that I came up with that theory.
[Please tell me there's no Wallingford Theater in Oakdale]

Well Oakdale is also one town over from where I lived when I first moved here too, so freaks me out some too Anyway, if I can go, I'm on the way to NL, so the DnD is a good meeting place no matter what.

I know where you are talking about here Benny, Chesterfield Center, Yeah the DnD on 85 before mall country would be a good spot to meet up if you are coming from the Oakdale.
I e-mailed the club pres asking if the breakfast at Stash's was memebers only, so far all i got was an auto-reply thanking me for my e-mail and telling me to look at the web site.So I did, the web site does not mention the breakfast. Just that the event at Ocean Beach park starts at 11:00. Now I have not been in Stash's in years but back then they did not serve food. So thats got me thinking that the breakfast is a Members only thing.
So I think we should consider breakfest At the DnD.
There is also a road side diner in Chesterfield Center on 85. Davids place, but I dont know if they open this early in the season.

Nah it's not complicated... Let's just keep it simple and grab grub before so as to not miss the grub completely! It will be easier to socialize in the smaller crowd anyway. I am fine with eating at the DnD before mall country, so if you guys need to eat before hand, no worries, just let me know and I'll grab my egg n chee when I get there

85? Do you mean 95? The most direct route for me is I-95, Norwalk to New London. Straight Slab, around an hour and a half, to two hours, depending on traffic. Or, I'd rather run up the parkway, to meet up w/others.

Ok didnt know if another meeting spot was picked yet for folks coming from your way.
I-95 and I-395 both crossover 85. If you (exit 77) off 395 wuold put you about 2 miles west of where 95 crosses 85 (exit 82).

UC, I'll probably go out to the NL ferry saturday morning and spend the day with my friend, then sunday morning meet, then sunday night get back on the same boat. The ride from here to Orient is MUCH nicer than I 95 An alternate route for you, slab it out to almost 395 and take an exit for Rt 1. in Old Lyme (basically the downhill side of that big bridge). Take Rt 1 for a while and bang a left on 161 in East Lyme. It's a fairly obvious intersection with a light, McDs, etc. That brings you up to 85 right about where I meet it from Oakdale. Bang a right on 85, enjoy the scenery around the lake, go under 395 and stop at DnD. Or we can find that diner Jack talked about.

Yeah benny I was gonna sugjest that route to UC it would be a little back tracking but much more scenic, I go that way when coming home from Niantic, As for that Diner its Called Davids Place (great clams) coming from where 161 hits 85, Its about 200 ft on the right after the intersection at the bottom of the hill.If you pass the Dinosoar you went to far. But like I said I dont think he opens up until memorial day.

OH that's right... Oops Yeah Charlie, the other option would be to take 95 all the way to 395, go north ONE exit, and hang a right off the ramp, the DnD is like 300 yards down.

 I think for now we just need to figure out a spot to get eveyone together, so we can enter New London as a Horde. The DnD Just outside malls vill there gets my vote.

Finally heard back from NLMC pres, as to weather breakfast at stashes was open to public. Here is his reply:
Hey Jack!
Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of town for a week plus.
Stash’s is open to all, and a good deal it is. The more the merrier, it’s a buffet and moves very quick.
Thanks! Jim Moran
NLMC President

Ok, let's take a vote!
All in favor of calling this: "The BA.com CT Horde Ride to the Blessing '07" Say aye, Those opposed say nay.
Chime in with any other ideas if this one's not satisfactory.
I'm either going 95 to 395, or run'n the Parkway to 91 to meet others in Glastonbury. It depends on whom I'll be riding with, and what they want to do. I gotta pm Capn, and CTnewbie, to see if they're interested. I think Brad's busy, but I'll try.
This would make for a great first meet-up of the year for all of us. Here's to making it happen(weather permit'n)! Uncle Charlie

Well UC I plan on going (weather permit'n) for my candy a$$ that means no rain and above 50 by afternoon. What needs to be figured out is.
Where to eat..Stash's is open to public, so we'd have to get there around ten for that.And what time we want to roll in.
The event itself starts at 11:00 and the blessing dose not happen until 1:00.
You and LJ3000 have the farthest to travel,(not counting benny's boat ride).
Oh and btw aye.
and as LJ pointed out this is not a "Triumph only thing" I've invited a Victory and a Hardly. Dont know if either will make it. So feel freee to invite non-Triumph friends and family.

Aye, Skipper
Since I have a trusty copy of "PC Miler" at hand, I took the liberty of running your mileage Unc. It's a scant 33 miles extra should you decide to make a stop in Glastonbury on your way to Submarine town.
Then again, if it's 37 degrees out...

Charlie,
Great name I'm a 'aye".
I can go either way catch LJ on his way south and then head over to Glastonbury to meet up with oneijack or head south and meet UC and Benny somewher near New Haven as they head north.
I have a feeling we will have sunny weather and temps in the 70's on the 15th.
I will ask my neighbor if he wants to go on his new Goldwing his dad rides a 1100 Shadow and his buddy has an 1100 showadow also. My buddy Dave with the Harley does not like crowds and is kind of a loner when it comes to riding, but he is a great guy maybe I can convince him to go.

I'm about to e-mail a friend w/a V-Stom.
My bike is all cleaned up, and I'm think'n about enter'n it. The Brit-Bike show that I went to last year would've been won by mine in it's class, if I had entered.
I nominate Jack as "Ride Captain". Tell us what to do, and where to go. All I wanna do is meet up w/you guys(and girls).
