The Duke of York in June of 06 made a speech to the Thai Chamber of Commerce. Hmmm, could Triumph have 4 plants? Anyhow he points out that the import taxes are skirted by having these plants.

From discussions with representatives of British Manufacturers yesterday, it is clear that Thailand is an attractive location for establishing a regional or even global manufacturing base, I saw this first hand today at Triumph's motorcycle Factory 4 which will not only add to Factory 3's components plant but also add a new Paint shop and motorbike assembly line - a great example of a British company that manufactures in the UK and Thailand and sells world-wide, manufacturing companies established in Thailand that export their products can be 100% foreign owned and not subject to duty which on vehicles from Europe are not inconsiderable.
