Hello people, does anybody know where i can get some cush drive rubbers for my 04 speedy, somewhere i can order them on the ninternet and have them delivered to uk?
Allso main Jets and shims where can i order them from the same way?
I have The Long Slash cut exhausts and high flow K&Ns on the carbs, i have removed air injection and smashed out airbox into a thousand pieces ,
And why is it that a motorcycle produced in this country is so difficult to get parts for , yet over the pond you have so many mods for them ,aftermarket parts ect ?

Coz the US cruiser market is so much bigger than the UK one... and bigger than the Aust one too which explains why we have the same problem here.

Best place to get cush drive rubbers would be your local triumph dealer - I'm pretty sure it's the the thunderbird ones you should get instead - they're firmer.

Even over here in the colonies, I've had better luck with carb parts at a Honda shop or a generic bike repair shop.

Well i went into my main Triumph Dealer here in Sunny ole Ipswich Suffolk Uk , i asked politely if they could supply me with some main Jets ,the response " Nahh Man you would have to go to a real bike shop for that we dont bother with Jets its not worth the paperwork" i have not been too happy with them at the moment anyhoo now i realy am not happy to do any kind of buisness with them at all, i would rather spend my hard earned cash elsewhere.

Yes you are right though Angelis.

methinks i may have to go back into that shop and ask them another question or two and see what response i get.
Thanks for the responses guys ride safe and ride free, Daz

I am changing my sprockets and chain over in the very near future so I thought I would do the cush drive as well. Ordered in the Thunderbird cush drive like Sandman says it's suppose to be firmer. I can't confirm that cause I don't have anything to compare it with.
Not cheap $169.00 aussie dollars for a lump of rubber. That's ok cause I think it must be the very best kind of rubber money can buy. YEH Right!!!!

I have just removed my wheels today so I can get my new tires mounted and balanced tomorrow. How do you know when it is time to replace your cush rubbers? I have looked at mine and it seems ok but what should I be looking for.

Dennis,
The manual says something to the tune of change it "When it needs to be changed." Very freakin specific eh?
Anyhow, most people measure the play by lifting the bike up, then put it in gear and see how much slop you get with the rear wheel when you try to turn it. Should be a little bit, a half inch of slop would be a sign to replace it. Mine has about 1/8" and may get swapped later this season when I get my roundtuit.

allso found a supplier of carb jets and things here in Uk so i should be ok for them now,
Thanks Again guys for you input , i have had a look or two at Brents site cool stuff and even cooler now i know he will ship here..

I have heard several people say about getting the Thunderbird cush rubber. Am I correct in assuming that the Thunderbird cush rubber is from a late 90's Triumph Thunderbird?

Well the Drama continues, I got the carbs balanced and it ran like a dream for a day pulling a lot harder than it had done with the A I and airbox in place, now with the K&Ns and the main jets upped a couple and two shims on the needles, the carbs balanced new fuel ect i thought my troubles would be over even though the bike was to be booked in to a rolling road tuners as soon as the Mechanic gets back from his hollidays.
Alas the following day when i had arranged to go for a ride out the Bliddy Trumpet decided to run like a bag of toe cheese again so its wait and get it to the tuners and hopefully they can file drill and tune the thing back to life again , i hope so as i am begining to question the 13 years i waited to replace the trumpet i had lost ( a 1967 Datona)all those years ago , and the years i dreamed about such a bike as the Speedmaster hitting the world , when i saw it i had to have one so i am quite gutted as you can probobly gather.
But their is a new spark growing in my new appreciation of all things Harley and i guess my head is being turned slowly away from the patriotism of owning a Brittish motorcycle, we will see , and when i get the Trumpet running and reliable i will post exactly what i have had done to make it work before i trade it in.

On the Cush drive i realy noticed the difference with the new drive in place in the 50 or so miles i have done on it since replacing it, realy showed me how bad they had worn.

Maybee after all said and done a reliable running Trumpet will give me new pride and stop me trading it in.

You are the first person I have heard having any real problems.Have you messed with the carbs yourself? Heck mine runs no matter what I rode from here NE PA ,Poconos, to NH a couple days after I got it in the driving rain. Rained so hard I almost couldn't see the tail light of the guy in front of me. It didn't skip a beat and still hasn't to this day10,000 miles later. I have done alot of things as far as carbs and air filtration etc.. and no matter what it ran good was lean and rich both until I got the jetting dialed in but never ran bad. I'm sorry for you luck maybe you got a lemon. It could happen. Or would that be a lime? LOL

Not familiar with that cheese, but it doesn't sound good. If it ran good one day and bad the next, its probably something simple like a vaccuum cap or tube fallen off. Maybe pinched or kinked vent line, or kinked fuel line.

I know what it's like to feel disappointed like you are obviously feeling but when it gets right and it will, you'll wonder what you were on about. Now, you do know that all the info for tuning and doing whatever is just a few key strokes away right? So maybe just ask the questions (nicely as you do) and wait for the replys. Mate, forget about the dealers, they don't give a b#gger and want too much money. Besides, there is nothing like doing it yourself and being rewarded by your baby running nice and smooth and your saving the big bucks. Why don't you get into the tech vault and read and look at past posts. It's all there. Just spend some time and then ask the questions. This stuff isn't that hard. Heh, even I did my 10k svc for nothing other than oil and filter etc and have done all the standard carb and air filter mods myself. This bike is a beauty and it was built just down the road from your place (it must be, you live on that little island don't you) so chin up cobber, you'll sort it

Dog33 Lime as in LIMEY lol,Lonzo i checked all the obvious and have read and reread over and over some of the common problems that have been found with the bike.
Staffo Gday i have messed with the carbs, changed jets, adjusted idle screws, balanced carbs up after the air box removal and air injection removal, i have put on K&N filters added two shims to the needles it ran so well for a day, it is booked in to the Dynojet Garage but i was going to do that anyhoo to get a true reading on what is needed to get it running like it should with the changes i have made, We have several heads working on the problems it has got us all a little stumped, i am sure the Dynojet results will give us the answers , i am lucky in the sense that the Garage that usually tunes up ferrari, dodge,Lotus,Bugati,Subaru, ect Rally cars road racers, Has a motorcross mechanic who loves all things Triumph and has offered to do what is necessary to get it running i have every faith in him but he is in Florida till next week so i gotta wait a little longer, i am just a bit gutted it rain like a dream for a year not missing a beat in the rain the cold and the heat, on long runs to Belgium and the like, then it started first we found the diaphram in the AI was split, so i did away with it, I had the Long Slash cutr Exhausts fitted before the bike left the showroom and i kinda just expected them to of upped the jets to suit but i have since found out they hadn`t, Then the airbox cracked so i smashed it to bits in a fit of dissapointment, replaced it with two K&Ns , I got sent a pdf file from a tuners here in the UK that recommended the right Jets for the setup so i bought them, replaced them and put the shims on the needles, then bought a Carb balancer and spent a while balancing the carbs up and we got it running like a dream but it still held back a little , like it was being choked so i had planned to get the advice from the Dynojetters as to getting the correct bits and pieces, I have Made a fiberglass Toolbox in place of the Airbox and managed to keep the brackets for the Side panel and i now can bolt them on so all electrics can stay where they were, the Cheese grators have gone and it has changed the look of the bike ( I Like It) i made a carb bracket out of an old Spanner, turned it into a cradle that holds the carbs level and cuts out too much movement on the carbs,The battery side of the bike has a cover fitted over the Battery terminal just as a temp till i get something better designed, All of these ideahs and fault finding ect i have learned off the collective of you guys and reading for hours back posts on problems and solving ect, For this i thank all of you i would be truely lost if it was not for this place, Anyhoo for fear of sounding too much like a limp wristed ******, whimpering about his lost puppy dog in the pouring rain, i will leave it there.

Hey Staffo i grew up very close to Hinkley but i live about 250miles away now.
Dog33, 8th Airbourne 1944 one of them guys before deployment planted his seed in my Gran they made my Dad together so i can only ever be Half a Lime!!!
Ride safe Guys , i know once the Trumpets running again ill be happy.
