Okay! Just which o' you people out there have the guts to come to Prescott this coming May 17-21, HUH?!
Come on! It's time for: Mouseketeer role call...Sound off please!
(man...with an attitude like THIS, I'm SURE to win 'em over, Cubby)
Once again, anyone who wishes to stay at my house is surely welcome to do that. Just remember to bring your sleeping bag.
And for those wishing their own accomodations that weekend, I'd suggest two options, though if you think you've found something better after an Internet search, feel free to PM me and I'll let you know if your find is close enough to be convenient:
The Comfort Inn Ponderosa Pines, on White Spar Road(AZ HWY-89), in The Pines adjacent to the Prescott National Forest, just a mile from my place and two miles from town square(price approx $80 per night) Phone:(928)778-5770, toll-free(800)889-9774
or, if you'd like to stay right in the midst of historic downtown Prescott, there is:
The Hassayampa Inn, 122 East Gurley St.(approx $120 per night, but that includes a full breakfast...and their breakfast is the best) Phone:toll-free(800)233-1927...but parking is the open lot across the street.
Cheers, Dwight

Yep.
I'm OK with a sleeping bag or hotel, whichever works best.
So, Dwight, now that you're officially a senior citizen and all, can you get some discount rates ?
Oh, XXL if you're counting.

Count me in, probably arriving late on 17th or early (after breakfast) on 18th. Tempted to visit some folks in Sedona on way down or back. Since you're offering, gotta porch or tree? Dwight, I have been looking forward to your get-together since you first told me about the idea last September. But, (alas) it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it. The date doesn't work out for me. I am returning to college at the University of Wyoming after a 32 year hiatus. After I made my decision to return to school, I figured I have no time to waste, so I'm starting with summer school (math prerequisites and public speaking). Classes start May 15th . I'm really disappointed that I can't go to Prescott. If it were a couple weeks earlier I'd be there for sure. I was looking forward to meeting everyone, and to seeing you again, Dwight. The one time we met in Minneapolis I was so exhausted from working and moving, I know I wasn't good company that evening. I almost fell asleep in my french fries. I was hoping to make a better showing. I even had the bike all tuned up for the trip. It's running grrrr-eat right now. I got the CDI straigtened out. I have almost new rubber, a Freak kit, new brake pads. It's ready for a trip. I've put this school thing off for years, behind wives (ex) and kids and jobs. I was going to take a semester off, and then go back and finish up, but that plan kept getting side-tracked. Now that I have the opportunity, I either need to do it or forget it. BTW, I tried to get ahold of Budweiser and see if he was making the SWTF, but I couldn't find him. I got nothing back from an email I sent, and I see he hasn't posted here in months. I hope nothing has happened to him. So, anyway, hope you guys have a great time, and if my plans for school change, you can bet I'll be heading for Prescott. Regards, John

Sorry to hear that you can't make it, John. But I'm glad to hear that you're getting on with your life in this positive way, and in a part of the country you really like. Good luck with your continued schooling.
Anytime you and your girlfriend want to visit Prescott, whether I'm in town there or not, you two are most welcome to visit this cool little town and stay at the house.
Yeah. You're right! We hardly ever hear from the Budster anymore. I too hope that he's doin' well.
Cheers, Dwight (BTW...no need to worry about that "Minneapolis Meeting of the Minds"...you were great company)

I am working out the details to make it happen. May end up being a two week excursion so my boy can participate in the AMA/NATC Nationals in Colorado and the way home the following week. That part is up in the air yet.
BUT! I am making every effort to get down there, just a 2000 mile trip one way for me and riding is out of the question with my time constraints and hauling a trials bike so I will have to haul or trailer (eeeoooooowh)
My wifes health is the main trouble in me going. Depends on how she feels then. But that was always a factor. But barring a bad week, I am out of here!

Eddy,
If you come across pick me up in NM or OK we can eat or whatever. That would be about 5-600 miles at the end of my day 1.

Things to do tomorrow: Contact Friar John and see if he has any of those funky little animated gremlins o' his that would show the little Dude's jaw dropping on the floor. (I'm thinkin' somethin' along those lines could come in handy in the future in order to express my reaction about the occassional input I read around here, that THIS ONE> , nor THIS ONE> , just doesn't quite cover!)

I AM GONNA TRY!!!!! thats only a month away! Here it is.... Memorial Weekend we are SUPPOSED to go to Bishop CA to meet up with the Wife's Family. I have a National Meeting the week before this so I am thinking my woman would let me ride down with some friends that have Triumphs the week before we go visit the Fam. Any suggustions on selling this to the wife? SHE WILL NOT RIDE ON LUCY ALL THE WAY TO AZ! That much has already been established.
If I don't make it to the Southwest Fest, then I will DEFINATELY be at the Horse Smoke Out. We should start planning a BA America crew for that too.

I have driven by the BBQ place a lot, never stopped tho....so don't have a clue - its not too far for a lunch ride, but it would be freeway half the way (not straight slab tho, I-17 isn't a bad ride).
And Dwight, anything you need done? I was down there last weekend (don't know if any of the bunny ears will still be hanging around or not!), and I did notice there is a Comfort Inn on White Spar/Hwy 89 just a mile or so south of your street. The other place folks might want to consider (as I know nothing of the other little hotels on White Spar) is the Hotel St. Michael right downtown - its not far from your place and they do have free parking in the garage behind, if places on the street can't be found - they also provide breakfast with the price of the room. If anyone wants me to do a little checking on room rates/places, I can....
Looking forward to this!!!! Becky

The Hotel St.Michael is a good alternative also, Becky. (BTW...Is it just my computer(or just my imagination) but are we being elbowed to the right on this here thread by those darn avatars or somethin'???) At this point I can't think of too much that I need you to do, but I know I'll think of something very soon, and as soon as I do, I'll let you know.

You and guest Derek Mosher(SalMaglie) and his lovely wife Linda Bill Carlston(bigbill) Bob Wall(wrwallpi) Paul Link(beanache) Ed Hofstrand(eddy1016)...who's workin' like the devil to arrange his much anticipated presence, as we speak) Shane Price(Bobbed)...who at this point has just GOT to convince his wife that meeting this "distinguished group of like-minded individuals"" will forever be a rememberance which he'll treasure to the end of his days! And ME of course...(Judie's still an maybe...How do ya like THAT? My OWN WIFE!!!) I guess that's IT! About 10 or so, so far. No! Wait a minute! There juuuuuust might be a "special mystery guest" from some far-flung region of the world, whom at this time I'm not at liberty to mention by name! (that'll peak their interests out there)

I'm heading to Prescott next week for a couple of days of riding, so if anybody wants me to check hotels or what-not, let me know.
Nothing is etched in stone, but talking with Dwight about potential rides, we thought maybe a trip through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon would be in order.
Another possible day ride is to Bagdad, Az. There's a cool roller coaster type road between the road to Bagdad and hwy 93 that was freshly paved and a blast to ride when we did it last year. We were thinking maybe lunch in Wickenburg, but I don't think either of us are up on the culinary scene there. I've been doing some research on potential dining establishments in Ticketburg...umm...Wickenburg, and I'll scout it out next week.
Of course everything is subject to change. Since we aren't a large group, we can wing it fairly easily. Besides, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't like a rigid itinerary, and with only 10 people we can stop just about anywhere to eat without overwhelming the restaurant's staff.
Dwight,
You get the t-shirts done yet?

The Hotel St Michael is 79-99 per night for a two double-bed room. If anyone wants to share a room. (May have to walk there after the evening activities ). I wonder if the parking at the hotel is secure at all? Or if Dwight has camping space for all, the hotel thing might be moot.

Bill - The St. Michael has free use of a parking garage behind the hotel, and sometimes you can get streetside parking.... I have never had a problem with leaving the bike parked either place overnight. And that has been on numerous occasions. I don't know about the camping at Dwight's - his house is on a very rocky hill (read 'no back yard to speak of') but he has a deck and driveway.....and whats in the downstairs "cavern" these days Dwight? Becky,
Unfortunately Judie looks as if she can't make it this time. Her new job as a Sales Manager during the busy season of perishable products that move on NWA to the orient starting in May will most likely keep her too busy at work in order to attend.
She was trying to figure out a way to fly into either Prescott or Phoenix and still not be absent from work enough to effect the operation, but it doesn't look good right now for that to happen.

I am still planing on a day there at least. I am too old to iron butt it on the little Triumph so have to do 2 500 mile days or it will kill me.
I would throw a bike in the back of the pickup but somehow I just can not do that for a get together.

Another plan would be to throw it in the truck drive to Salmaglie, swear him to secrecy, then ride there with him just to collect some bugs and look real tired
