Sorry! I didn't mean to scare anyone here, though I can fully understand that one's thoughts could have turned to the "darker side" after reading my topic heading after the seeming upturn in accidents lately among many of our "thawing friends" here now back on the roads, but.....

I just had to say goodbye to my trusty ol' '69 El Camino today.

Sold her to a young man who is going to fix her up again...the way she deserves to be.

Funny ain't it how some of these inanimate objects somehow become "members of our family" after a while?!

Fully understand that. I was heartbroken when i sold my Triumph TR7 soft top. I LOVED that car, and if I could find it I would try my best to ship the thing over here from the UK.

I have a buddy with a TR7. I'm not sure if its a soft top. It needs work! Its been sitting under his carport with crap all over it for years. I think the body is clean and we was talking about selling it. I'll look into it for you if you want.

Gee Dwight, it's just a cage.

If you ever think about selling your old Triumph, can I get first dibs?

Thanks for the offer. But it would not be the same. It has to be MY Metallic Lime Green soft top, registraion number KAV 532W. Nothing else will do. Look at that, sold it 18 years ago and the reg number rolls of the tounge.

But I appreciate the offer.

Those things needed work when they were brand new... And if it didn't break - it rusted to the ground before the tires wore out.

I think the average Renault had a better service record. It wasn't even hard for the French to out-do the Brits and their '7'

Yes and No. The last of the TR7s were genarally known as being quite sound. The last ones are easy to spot. They have a large circuler enamel badge on the hood. All the earlier models had decals on the hood.

The "official Triumph built" TR8s, of which about 80% of those built were shipped to the US were also meant to be pretty sound cars.

Which brings up something that i always thought was a real shame. The TR8s were good cars, Triumph got that one right just in time for the number crunchers to drop the line. What a shame.

Yep! True enough! But remember ol' buddy...some cages are "more equal" than others.

And BTW...Okay! You've got first dibs on the Streettracker...but don't hold your breath waitin' for THAT sad day to happen DUDE!!!

Oh i beg to differ. I can think of a few cars i would sell the bike for in an instant. Just about any Red two seater from Marinello for one.

And if some one was to offer to swap my bike for a Jaguar E-Type. Well I wouldn't even have to think about. Done, sold, give me the keys.

Man i love those cars.

Can you live in El Camino CA without owning an El Camino....

A little old lady in our church has a 69 SS with a 396 and four-speed. Original paint, still in pretty decent condition. She uses it as a truck a few times a year. I keep trying to buy it, but she's not selling!

I'm not saying Mark's ol' flame wasn't good to look at - Just that you couldn't depend on her for a 'ride'. Using that analogy, again, cars and women are much alike...

Ya know Stewe, I've been thinkin' about this Austin Princess car o' yours, and started wondering why I've never seen one o' those on the american highways. And then it hit me!

Besides the fact that Austin never really made any inroads into the american car market to speak of, I think that maybe that particular car's name itself "just might have" held back a few sales if they would have ever tried sellin' any o' those puppies over here.

I mean, Datsun(now of course, Nissan) never imported the "Fairlady Z" into the The States EITHER as far as I know, but there SURE were a hell of a lot of those plain old "Z"s zippin' down american highways a few decades ago.

Don't take it personal, Dog. The censor thingie,(computer techno-language), I've found from personal experience to be automatic. Just use one of these $&*# things instead of letters.
