I got my 440s last night and put them on. Done the setup from the link above and wound up on the first of three marks for the preload (no mark=0=softest, 3rd mark=stiffest). This was about 20 points (cover indents) of rotation from the softest setting. This gave me about 32mm "Rider Sag" with my saddlebags, windshield, etc. I am 205 pounds and my bags and EZ Brackets and contents may weight about 40 pounds(?).
These shocks are unbelievable. I do not feel potholes, bumps, manhole covers, etc in a straight line. I also can go hardbanked in turns-long sweeping turns-over bumpy pavement without the bike wobbling and wandering and having to make constant corrections. I have never scraped the frame before, but this morning I scraped it twice in fast long turns. Surprised the living daylights out of me that I was going that fast in turns-these shocks give you a confidence that will shock you! It now seems just as natural to be leaned over almost to the frame as it is to be vertical. I do not consider myself to be an agressive driver, but I do consider myself to be a very defensive driver, not letting any cager stay near me. I commute daily, and these 440s are just what I needed. Also, the "polished" aluminum model looks just fine on my TBA, as it has lots of "polished aluminum" on it from the factory. I highly recommend these 440s to anyone who wants a soft ride down the road, but handling like a race bike. The IAS system they have really works, and the lifetime guarentee doesn't hurt either. Thanks to Dinqua and Benny and so many others for recommending them to me.
