I bought one of Brents Carb Balancer's and have used it twice both times I ended up with condensation water sitting on top of the mercury.

I got rid of the water, by blowing on the ends of the four tubes the water being lighter it settled on the top of the mercury. I then pulled the cap off and slide the tubes up a bit and used a tissue to draw off the water. I then reassembled everything and re-started the bike and really let her warm up a good 25 minutes. I then pulled of the vaccum caps and let her run a little longer (I had to keep a little pressure on the throttle) to keep her from stalling) When I did this I noticed what look like steam coming out of the vaccum ports for a few seconds.

Then I shut her down and reconnected the tubes and started her up now I had four perfert tubes and I was out of balance as I adjsuter her you could hear the difference as both carbs came into balance.

I shut her down and followed Pat's advise and reversed the tubes and started her back up and lucked out she was perfect.

I guess the key is if you have Bretts less expensive carb balancer let the bike really warm up before you connect the balancer I would also recommend to shut down the bike prior to hooking up the balancer also.

Hope this helps someone.

I would recommend a big box fan to keep her cool if you plan to let her idle that long.

When I balance my carbs, I warm the engine, adjust the idle up to about 1200 rpms, shut her down, install balancer, start her up, balance. Repeat from shut down with tubes reversed and adjust as necessary. Finally, I return idle speed to normal and go ride!!

Did you connect 2 tubes to each carb?
