OK..here's the latest and gratest. Took some of the advice and housed the vid cam next to the front door..here he comes. I stepped out with the camera and catching him coming down slowly checking to make sure we're here. Sees me outside and waves and starts down the hill. I got him on camera..and stepped to the street to try to talk to him (usually its Mark dealing with him). Idiot nearly runs over my foot now my kids want to damage him. I called the cops..yet again..and asked for a supervisor. Got a really nice guy and he says The camera is a good idea but with the helmet it's kinda useless cause you can't prove who's riding the bike. He said that the best way to handle it is as soon as we hear the bike start up (sounds worse than a harley..we know when he's moving)to call them..and keep calling them..eventually they'll catch him and start giving him tickets..and if they have to..impound his bike. He says he's on shift this weekend and he and his guys will do a couple of ride throughs and try to catch him in the act and get this guy stopped.
So..other than what we're doing so far (and wanting to keep it legal and Mark not end up in jail and loosing his job) any of you guys or gals with cops or lawyers or officials in your circle of family and friends got any tips?

Just get all the neighbors together & run the guy down. The cops will probably never "catch him in the act".
I'm actually pretty disgusted by most of the responses on here. I can't believe how many people have traded in their man cards for a man purse. Do you guys have children ?? Have you ever had to watch your child get operated on?

You mean you know who this guy is and where he lives?
So why does his bike still start?

Hey BAMOM, glad you got someone on the phone who actually sounds like he gives a crap! If you relentlessly call the cops, they will have to take action eventually.

In the mean time, do your best to keep the kids out of the street.

Yota, I totally hear what you are saying, but it would also be a shame for two kids to be without their dad for a while cause he gets pinched for assault.

ok then do it the "New" American way, call your laywer,
file a civil suit, sue him for 10 million cuz hes causing you "emotional truama". Making you loose sleep, time from work, sexual dysfunction etc etc....

Oh and while you are at it, might as well sue the police and town, for failing to take action. maybe the bikes manufaturer also.

Yota, it could be some are disgusted by your lack of understanding of the legal and ethical manner of action. Go out and be tough ( or sound it on line here, heck no one really will know ), and if you get popped for bravery, then you will have earned your mancard ( congradulations ).

ok, this might hurt a little bit, but only for a little while. i am under the impression this is just a dirt type bike, and when he is out front of your place at the end of the street, he cant be going that fast soooo just step into it, let him hit you, NOOOOO not dead on silly, but just a side glance, maybe just enough to make it look good, now you want to have some witnessess standing by, then you SUE!!!! the cops already have it on record that he is trouble, reports have been filed, you can say you went out to talk to him and he ran you down. i am not saying to get hurt, think of a stunt man, use your brain, you dont even have to get hit, just fall down when he is near and then lay there til the cops and ambulance show up. END OF PROBLEM!!!!!!! nothing else seems to be working, and you know the cops will be on your side.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

If you get the right witnesses, you wont even have to let him hit ya. Just fall.

I know the world has gone lawsuit crazy but sometimes it's a risk worth taking. I make no claims to be a bad a** & never have....anyone who has met me will tell you that my child means everything to me & I'm more than capable or taken out any threat towards him.

I am so glad I live in a small town in the south. We fix our own problems. If it gets too nasty we call the cops after & they can "clean it up".

I'm glad you still live in the "good old days," but the rest of us are living in a crazy litigious society where victims get thrown in jail when they try and stand up for themselves. Heck, even most of Montana has become sufficiently wussified that you can get thrown in the can for giving someone a completely justified arse-whuppin'.

Oh, and I'm fairly certain that if I got myself in any such scuffle, and charged as the aggressor, that I'd lose my job. It's just not worth it. I would lose my well-paying corporate IT job and this town is small enough that I'd be lucky to get a job at Costco (nothing wrong with Costco - it just pays a lot less).

Wheew, I gotta say, all kidding aside, there is a LOT of really bad advice being given here.
Jefferson is 1000% correct, STAY AWAY from him at all costs. YOU will end up in jail. Video, then make a citizens arrest claim down at the police station. Keep on the cops, find the biggest buttface/powertripping cop and he'll do the dirty work for ya.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Make the video, it would be nice to follow his path to his residence, but you shouldnt go on his property. Take said video to cops as Dinqua has mentioned, and follow up by bugging the hell out of the cops. Also, talk to the other neighbours, see if anyone else has issue and have them also go to the cops. Results come with numbers.

We chose a house in a cul-de-sac so that we wouldn't have to worry about this crap. Our kids do play in and near the street. Considering you can't really skateboard and ride bikes in the grass. They have friends across the street and down the street and a neighbor who threatens to shoot anyone who walks on his yard...any proposition on how they would get to those locations without actually utilizing the street?
So you're saying that the kids should stay off the street so that this kid can ride his OFF ROAD BIKE in it?

Hey, I've GOT IT!

You know those I.E.D.s that are "all the rage" over there in Fallousha and the so-called "Sunni Triangle"?!

Well, you see......

Right on Kimmy. It's a residential area. Kids play in the street, that's what they do. It's incumbent on anyone operating a vehicle to be extremely careful when driving on residential streets.

Here's an idea, tell the cops that he almost hit a kid. It's not a lie so much as a ummm "forward looking truth".
And that if it ever happens that he does hit a child, the response could be far reaching indeed.
In fact, if you're in an incorporated area call whatever politician represents you, as well as the mayor's office and tell them to make it stop or face fierce opposition in his/her next election.
(Again numbers matter, so enlist the aid of friends and relatives).
I think you'll see results.

Brian

All kidding aside, 10 years ago I guy completely out of control trying to pass a line of cars in a no passing zone had to cut back in to miss oncoming traffic and just grazed my rear bumper.

The guy jumps out of his car and the only words he knows is you F***** C***S*****. There was 10 to 15 eye witness and this guy throws a coffee cup at me hitting me in the head.

I went ballistic on him and really kick the crap out of him, broke his nose and his jaw. Well the guy sues me and two years later and a ton of aggervation we go to court and he does not show up the judge dimisses the crimal charges against me for excessive force.

Luckily my insurance company supported me on the civil case and settled with the guy for $15,000.

Bottom line law abidding folks like us can not win, the courts and laws are all out of balance and a**holes like him know it.

when I worked on a road crew, we always had a$$holes come racing past us. I leared that a pocket full of 2in crush rocks when thrown into the air can cause all kinds of havoc with paint and windshields. No I am not advoking violence, but I do tend to have a few rocks in my pocket most times.

I also like Iceman's idea of the obstacle course

Hope you get this little issue solved

UPDATE: At the risk of jinxing our situation...it has been relatively quiet for the last couple of weeks. Crossing my fingers that the last officers through had a decent talking to with them and that calmed them down a bit. Haven't seen much of them since.
