My wife who was made in USA (i know this cuz its tattooed on her butt)

I know man, it's the way the world nowadays but still grates IMO. Everything's about profits and heritage is lost...
A different tack but I heard the other day that a company over here is trying to re-establish the wool industry in part the Yorkshire Dales. They've some the sheep who were famous for their wool in times past (apparently most sheep wool is coarse in comparison) they've been breeding them again and have managed to track down some the old traditional spinners and knitters to make the garments. They're hoping to make a go of it and although the garments will be dearer, it should help the local economy somewhat. Hope that they succeed, be nice to see quality beat quantity for a change..

I wish them luck also, The US is full of crumbling buildings, that used to be textile factorys. Couple not far from here.

Yes the global economy... I work for a British owned company, (well British owned for another month or so its been sold). Our Customers include Rolls Royce, Volvo, PWA Canada,MTU Geramny and we even ship some stuff to France.

But I believe we (I) have just redirected this thread sorry

Would you buy a Speedmaster or an America not built in England?

And did those feet, in ancient times, walk upon England's mountains green....

Well said Satxron, and while I was one of the people who voted no, I still went out and ordered a new Speedy yesterday. I believe in my original post I said no, only if I had no choice, well I had no choice, I wanted the new Speedy! I still wish however they would assemble them at Hinckley.

I got a funny feeling that as time passes you won't be the last person to say this after stomping up and down and swearing to the heavens that I will never buy another Triumph. The answer is quite simple. Those that swear that they will go to Harley$$ have forgotten how blasted expensive they are(except for the Sportster and they are not in the same league as our bikes) For the ones hollering they might as well get a Jap bike have obiously not looked at any lately(I have still yet to see any Jap bike come close to Triumph's style) Then there is the parallel twin factor(which is one of the major reasons many of us are America or Speedmaster owners including myself) Oh by the way I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying that you are going to be hard pressed to find another Motorcycle manufacture that makes a parallel twin engine. So when the time comes to get another bike folks are going to find that the others just fall short of Triumph's unique qualities and find that there is little or no other option than to get another Triumph. So I think that Triumph will be quite alright in the end. I'm also quite sure that if Mr. Bloor is reading any of your "I will never buy another Triumph again" rants He will not be loosing any sleep or crapping bricks over it.

Not me. I've never seen any product from that general area worth keeping.
