I've always been amused by the people who want to legalize pot but criminalize tobacco. If cigarettes got you high they'd be a constitutional right! Legalize it, make it a government monopoly, tax the heck out of it and put bureaucrats in charge of overseeing distribution. That'll take the gloss off
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Government both Fed and State are losing money now that we have taxed and educated our way to the death of the big tobacco. Suddenly those inexhaustible sin tax revenues are no longer there to be spent at will. I think the major thing keeping pot illegal is how to tax it. Once that is solved the major hurdle will be out the way. I think the other hurdle will be people who were raised to think of pot as a wicked scary substance. A lot of people have bought into the notion that cannabis will cause death, destruction and mayhem if it is more available. That being said, it if was legal I still wouldn't smoke it, I'm fat, lazy and dumb enough already thank you very much.

think of all the laws that are on the books that are down right stupid, laws about sex with your wife or an agreeable partner, laws about hitching your buggy to the post, laws about being naked, laws, laws, laws, that have nothing to do with real life but are all about controlling the population. the prisons are full of people that have done nothing to harm anyone, people are loseing everything that they own(i had a friend that lived upstairs from his mom and dads store, he got busted and his parents lost the store, explain that) for doing something that has not harmed anyone else.ITS ALL ABOUT THE $$$$$ the almighty $$$$$ we need more prisons, we need more prison gaurds, we need more lawers and a way to keep them busy, we need more police so we need more tax $$$$ its all about the $$$$$ 1 acre of hemp (cut down 4 acres of hemp and regrow next yr) does for the air what 4 acres of trees (cut down 1 acre it takes yrs to replace) will do and yet we refuse to grow. Edison and Firestone built a car from the plastic made from hemp, then ran the car from the oil they extracted from hemp, but we go on useing a nonreplaceable scorce for oil (which also makes plastic)and the oil companies keep getting richer. in the 17 and 1800's there were only 2 basic types of oil that was used, whale blubber and hemp more people need to study the history of hemp and then ask the question, WHY IS IT STILL ILLEAGEL????? again we go back to the $$$$$ And its only because some mexican that had been smokeing it ran into randolph hurst car that it was made illeagel to begin with, and that is the truth!!! more people are killed every yr because of alcohal then are killed in 10yr because of the dreaded weed. once a law is on the books, you will never see it not on the books, you cant fight city hall. the politicians dont think we can controll ourselves and they need to do it for us and to do that they MUST do what corperate america (oil co, pharmacutical co., tobacco co) wants because they are the only ones lobbying so they must know best &^%$#@#$%^&*
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Don't wanna get into this old debate...
But, just to antagonize folks currently paying 1/8 the national debt for a thimble full - 4 and five finger ounces of good Jamaican pot used to cost $15 & $20
(Now you know why we didn't mind walking barefoot in the snow uphill to school both ways)

Ok last thing I'm gonna say on this subject,
If you dont like the marajuana laws or any laws for that matter. Start getting off your dead a$$es and VOTE.
Biggest problem in this country is we let the same 10 or 15 percent of eligable voters pick our leaders for us every election, be it state local or national. And those morons keep picking clones of (and in some cases the origainal) the jackasses that where running this counrty in 1968. I know there are probaly some of us who do, But I'll bet a weeks pay (and that aint much) that most dont.
The percentage you're paying is too high-priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
