The parts I ordered and paid for in Jan finally came in yesterday. New console lights, cush drive and K&N filter.
I am fresh off of a Friday night trip to UrgentCare with a monster head cold....$70 office "visit" and $220 worth at the CVS, Levaquin and a Z-pak. I have a tradeshow to fly out for in INdy on Tuesday and have flown with headcolds before...not pretty. Anyhoo, I could not stand it. I ripped the snorkels out of the airbox and popped in the K&N. Of course, sick and all, I had to do a little road test. LOL, 25 Miles later I am coming off a big sweeping downhill, shift out of 4th to 3rd at about 45 MPH and the thing starts to snap, crackle, pop and burble..good thing I wear a full face helmet or all those kids playing in that yard would have been wondering about the big dufus with the S%^$* eating grin that just went by. I have heard a lot of guys not liking the popping and bubbling on decel but fellas, that is just COOL!! Now, am I hurting anything?? I sure hope not cause the grin factor is much bigger for me on my America.

Oh yeah, it seems to have picked up just a tick on the performance side, according to the butt dyno but that may be entirely in my head or butt depending on how you look at it.

Anyway, sick as a dog, really should not have been out and that "around the block shakedown" turned into a 25 miler....resistance is futile, lmao!!

As long as it doesn't start becoming a 'BABOOM!', a little snap crackle and pop doesn't hurt anything. I once had a '41 Ford that crackled for 50 miles straight going down the hill between Kingman and Needles and it wasn't hurt at all. Come to think of it, my '49 Triumph did it more than the Ford and it was still running strong the last time I saw it. That is a normal trait of a high performance engine and most efforts to stop it end up costing horsepower.
Your ride might have helped a bit in curing you, cold air tends to kill germs. I guess there are limits, but I came home feeling better last time I went riding in spite of the icesicles in my beard.

Exactly what I was thinking. Viruses seem to thrive in our boarded up, airless, enclosed winter domiciles. They set up camp on sofas and recliners, build subdivisions in afghans. Get outside where the good germs can outnumber the bad germs. Oh and drink plenty of oraaange juice. In a bind, my Grandpa recommended a nip of blackberry brandy. I said a "nip"

If you didn't snap crackle and pop before the air filter it means you are lean. If you like it as above you won't hurt anything. (do not twist the gas when starting the bike!) You could do very interesting things to your airbox.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
